The 70-year-old suggested that Biden could terminate his re-election campaign abruptly, similar to the way President Lyndon B Johnson did in 1968 which surprised the nation.

“I’m not even sure whether I’ll be running against Biden,” West shared over an hour-long conversation with POLITICO reporters and editors. “Biden — I think he’s going to have an LBJ moment (and) pull back.”

What did Cornel West disclose about upcoming US general election?

West indicated his possible candidacy in the upcoming general election, citing his openness to run against ‘B Team’ Democratic candidates such as California Governor Gavin Newsom and Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer.

"I’m just saying that I’m open to those possibilities, given the fluidity of the situation," West said.

Additionally, he expressed his belief that Biden's re-election campaign in 2024 may not come to fruition, citing a perceived decline in the president's energy.

West remarked on Biden, "He’s running out of gas."

West also slammed former President Donald Trump, calling him a "bona fide gangsta, Neo-fascist, Pied Piper leading the country for the second civil war."

He characterized Biden as a "milquetoast neoliberal with military adventurism, possibly leading the world toward World War III."

"I'm more concerned about Trump domestically," West revealed to the outlet. "I'm more concerned about Biden in terms of foreign policy."

West denied that running for president would make him a ‘spoiler’ for Democrats and could help Trump win the all-important 2024 US general election.

"I don’t accept the spoiler category," West argued. "A vote for Biden, a vote for Trump is a vote for Biden and a vote for Trump."

"There might be slices of people ‘if I didn’t vote for West, I would have voted for Biden,’" he explained. "But that’s not to me, a spoiler. If you’re in a race, and you make a case, and they vote for you, how do you become the spoiler?"

West also claimed that the 2024 presidential campaign is about reaching out to Americans who don't vote in elections on a regular basis, as well as young people.

He said, "So much of this campaign really is about trying to touch that 38 percent who don’t vote at all and young people more and more wrestling with cynicism of various sorts.”
