'I was nervous': Exploring Cindy Crawford's meeting with Prince William as fans call her 'part of history'

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Supermodel Cindy Crawford recently posted on social media, addressing her “little cameo” on Netflix’s ‘The Crown’ is gaining traction on the internet.

The popular show that wrapped up following six successful seasons, chronicled the intricacies of the British royal family. One of the latest episodes chronicled Prince Williams’s fascination with the 90s supermodels.

In one of the scenes of ‘The Crown’, the young Prince of Wales and his grandfather Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Philip were seen engaging in a fun banter discussing the cover girls of their respective generations.

Sharing a small snippet of the scene, Crawford wrote on her Instagram, “A little cameo on @thecrownnetflix 👀.”

She went on to share, “I still vividly remember visiting Kensington Palace to meet Diana and a teenage William (who had just discovered the “Super Models”) ♥️.”

In the scene, Crawford along with other fellow supermodels graced the wall of Williams’s dorm room in Eton. As Prince Philip (played by Jonathan Pryce) visits Prince William (played by Ed McVey), the doting grandfather asks him about the posters.

As William seems visibly uncomfortable, Philip says, “Nothing to be ashamed of,” before asking, “Do they have names?” William replied, "Claudia Schiffer, Cindy Crawford and Naomi Campbell”

Philip then playfully added, “In my day it was Rita Hayworth, Betty Grable and Lana Turner.”

 Cindy Crawford remembers meeting Princess Diana

This is, however, not the first time that Cindy Crawford has mentioned the royal family in her Instagram post. In 2017, Crawford shared a snap of her with Princess Diana with a long tribute to the late royal. 

She wrote, "Remembering this inspiring woman today. This photo was taken at Kensington Palace. Princess Diana had somehow got the number to my office and called herself to ask for me. My assistant was in shock!"

She added, "We finally connected and she asked if the next time I was in London I would come by for tea — I think Prince William was just starting to notice models and she thought it would be a cute surprise for him and Prince Harry."

Crawford continued, "I was nervous and didn't know what to wear, but remember as soon as she came into the room and we started talking, it was like talking to a girlfriend. She was a class act and showed us all what a modern day princess should be. Rest In Peace"

In the 2017 documentary ‘Diana, Our Mother’, Prince William opened up about meeting Cindy Crawford when he was “12 or 13” and the experience left him “sort of awestruck.”

The 41-year-old prince shared, “I went bright red and didn’t quite know what to say and sort of fumbled,” before adding, “I think I pretty much fell down the stairs on the way up."

Adding that Princess Diana loved “embarrassing” him, William shared, “But that was a very funny memory that’s lived with me forever,” per OK! Magazine.

The fans were impressed with Cindy Crawford's 'little cameo' on 'The Crown' as they hailed the supermodel for her legendary presence in the '90s.
