Kelly started by reminding the former governor of his intentions to join the race for Presidency.

She started, “Governor Christie you even said that you got into this race just to stop President Trump. His approval rating with Republicans is currently 81%. Yours is 25.”

“Your best state is New Hampshire and even there two-thirds of GOP voters say that they will be angry and disappointed if you won,” she said.

"Respectfully Governor. You have not stopped Mr Trump and voters may wonder how you can become the nominee of the party that doesn’t appear to like you very much.” he further added.

After Kelly’s statement, former governor Christie tried to salvage the situation by stating, “Look Megyn, it’s often very difficult to be the only person on the stage telling the truth.”

However, the damage had already been done with Kelly’s outrageous opening question for Christie. And the netizens took it up a notch and were shocked to see Christie completely stumped at first by Kelly’s question.

Internet shocked after Megyn Kelly’s opening question for Chris Christie

One user reposted the clip of Kelly’s question to Christie with the caption, “Chris Christie just got dressed up for a debate just to get his campaign ended by Megyn Kelly in 60 seconds with a single question.”

Another user said, “The Republican debate has been an absolute beatdown on Chris Christie. Christie had to sit through 30 seconds of the brutal truth from Megyn Kelly after she reminded him how unliked he is compared to Donald Trump."

“Then he got bodied by Vivek Ramaswamy who told him to leave and eat some food. Absolutely brutal,” one user said.

Another praised Kelly and wrote, “She is gaining a couple points in my book for that.”

Another user trolled Christie for his response and tweeted, “Lol how many times is Christie going to reference the time? What a joke.”

A user claimed, “Christie only knows to attack Trump. That's it,” while another said, “Not sure why he's using Trump not being there as an explanation as to why his own party dislikes him. He's giving off sleazy mobster vibes.”
