JUPITER, FLORIDA: During an interview with Newsmax, Donald Trump Jr expressed his firm opposition to the idea of Nikki Haley serving as the Vice President alongside his father, former President Donald Trump, in the upcoming 2024 elections.

Trump Jr emphasized that he would "go to great lengths" to ensure that Haley is not considered for the position in any way.

He further elaborated by stating that Haley's potential appointment as the vice president would be "a disaster of epic proportions.”

These remarks were made by Trump Jr in response to a proposal by some to nominate Haley as Trump's running mate in the Republican presidential primaries.

Why is Nikki Haley in the political limelight at the moment?

Nikki Haley, the former Governor of South Carolina and United Nations Ambassador under the Trump administration, is currently vying for second place in the GOP primaries.

As of the latest polls, Haley's support stands at 11.3%, while Florida Governor Ron DeSantis leads with 12.2%.

However, former President Donald Trump enjoys a significant lead of nearly 50 percentage points over DeSantis.

Former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif, told The New York Times' DealBook Summit last month that he would choose Haley to be Trump's running mate in 2024.

"Well, right now, I think it would be Nikki Haley, in my view," McCarthy shared at the summit.

He noted, "But the question is: Who you select, will they serve? So that's another question you have to have. And it's about addition."

What did Trump Jr say about Haley in his Newsmax interview?

Despite the praises bestowed by the former Republican Speaker on Nikki Haley, Donald Trump Jr sure isn’t swayed by the rising stock of the former US ambassador.

He characterized Haley in his interview as "the new favorite candidate of the billionaire class."

Trump Jr said when asked about Haley being a potential VP candidate alongside Donald Trump, “I wouldn't have her out. I would go to great lengths to make sure that that doesn't happen.”

He explained, “Nikki Haley wants never never-ending war. She's a puppet of the establishment in Washington, DC. She's the new favorite candidate of the billionaire class because they want control, no different than academia and Harvard using their billions to exercise influence. They want someone they control.”

Trump Jr continued, “Ron DeSantis has proven that he doesn't have what it takes to be on that stage. He's embarrassed himself that way. She's now the preferred candidate. No, I would not want Nikki Haley's never-ending wars.”

“And by the way, all you'd get is her team trying to destroy Donald Trump from within forever,” he added. “The second she ever got that anointment, it would be a disaster of epic proportions. So, I would hope that that never is on the table, and I don't think it is.”

Internet agrees with Trump Jr’s assessment of Nikki Haley

Trump Jr’s vehement refusal to pick the former South Carolina governor as his father’s potential Vice President candidate shows that Nikki isn’t all that widely adored among the Republican base as one might assume from the favourability polls and approval ratings.

One X user said: “Good. Nikki would not be good."

Another user wrote: "Just say no to Nikki Haley. She is a closet Democrat."

Another user remarked: "Trump would lose half his base if this happened."

One user stated: "Under no circumstances Nikki Haley would never be Trump Vp thank god goodness for don jr speak out against that VP tickets."

Another X user said: "Nice! Haley having a vital position in the US government sounds scary. She could also multiply the wars."

Finally, this user tweeted: "Yeah I think we agree!"
