She continued, “I’m going to do my best and, sometimes, that should be more than enough for yourself. You should say that to yourself.”

Brzezinski added, “I think sometimes we try so hard for other people that we become really sad when we realize we can’t make something exactly the way it was, we can’t bring back a dynamic or feeling and sometimes holidays are just a bridge into the future.”

“Sometimes they’re not perfect for a while but you’re going to get there and, if you give yourself a break on this one, you might have a better holiday than you could have ever imagined,” said Brzezinski.

She also added, “So again, I’m going to wish you all an OK Christmas and an OK Hannukah. Well…just do your best.”

In the caption, Brzezinski opened up a little more about the loss she is facing this holiday season, She wrote, “The holidays, once a time of joy and laughter in my parents’ old farmhouse, now bring a mix of grief and gratitude. I lost my mom last year, following my dad’s passing in 2017.”

She then added, “And the recent death of a family friend, former First Lady #RosalynCarter — triggered a hard truth: a beautiful chapter in my life is over.”

Acknowledging the difficulties of life, she continued, “Holiday seasons change, and so do we. This year, I’m not chasing perfect; I’m going to try to *not* try so hard! No, really! I am working on accepting that some things are in the past and I’m holding on to #gratitude for those amazing memories.”

She reiterated to her followers that it's “OK” to not have a happy holiday season as she wrote, “I want to let go of expectations of having a holiday that matches those in the past. And it may even be a little sad. It’s OK to not have a “Merry” Christmas or a “Happy” Hanukkah. If your holiday is just “OK” — like I’m hoping for myself — well, that’s OK too.”

As she concluded, the ‘Morning Joe’ host wrote, “This year, I’ll cherish small tokens of my parents, connect with my family, and aim to keep it real, knowing that it’s alright to feel both happy and sad. To everyone feeling similar emotions, I wish everyone an OK holiday, as we all navigate through changes and find our way to new, hopeful futures.”
