Internet backs Sofia Vergara as Griselda Blanco's son slams her for being 'disrespectful' to drug lord
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Sofia Vergara’s portrayal of late Colombian drug lord Griselda Blanco is not getting a positive response from her son.
Recently, Griselda’s son, Michael Corleone Blanco opened up about his displeasure at Vergara’s portrayal of his late mother saying it is nothing short of being 'disrespectful'.
The family has even sued the actress for alleged unauthorized use of their image and likeness.
Griselda Blanco’s son speaks up against the Netflix series
The ‘Modern Family’ alum is currently starring on the Netflix show ‘Griselda’ where she is portraying the Colombian drug queen.
During an interview with Fox News, Michael aired his grievances against the 51-year-old Colombian actress, saying, “Sofía Vergara did not consult with any members of the Blanco family as a sign of respect or elicit family details in portraying my mother.”
He added, “When I learned of the ‘Griselda’ project, my team reached out to Sofia’s camp and offered my consultation services.”
However, he claimed Vergara - who also acts as the Executive Producer for the six-part miniseries - said to him that there was “no room on the project” to consult with him or any member of Blanco’s family.
He further added, “Sofia’s camp and the Netflix creators were disrespectful and ultimately produced the ‘Griselda’ project on their own for commercial gain, without key details from the Blanco family.”
Michael went on to allege, “After the sit-down at the table, my lawyers formally sent a cease-and-desist letter to Netflix and Sofia’s camp. As of today, Netflix nor Sofia’s camp has made any attempt to reconcile.”
“Regardless of public information, basic respect is warranted,” Griselda’s son continued, before adding, “I am Griselda’s only living son that has life rights agreements signed by Griselda herself in which she intended I carry out her life story.”
He added, “I am a businessman in the entertainment industry and comprehend the importance of motion pictures as I have a book to be released, based on the real story.”
Griselda Blanco was an infamous drug lord who was in operation from the 1970s through the early 2000s, and was nicknamed the “Cocaine Queen” and “The Godmother”, per New York Post.

As Michael Corleone Blanco accused Vergara for being "disrespectful," fans reacted on Facebook.
