DES MOINES, IOWA: Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy has reiterated his support for the debunked conspiracy theory surrounding the January 6 Capitol Hill attacks, alleging that federal agents played a role in fueling the insurrection amidst the congressional vote to formalize Joe Biden's victory in the 2020 presidential elections.

During the fourth GOP debate in Alabama, Ramaswamy first stated that the January 6 insurrection was "an inside job". The White House hopeful repeated the claims at a live CNN Townhall in Iowa on Wednesday, December 13, 2023.

Vivek Ramaswamy stands firm on his January 6 theory

When moderator Abby Philip asked how he felt about one of the convicts sentenced to 11 years, he praised him for suggesting the same. Ramaswamy doubled down on his previous claims, saying, "If you had told me [three years ago] that January 6 was in any way an inside job, the subject of government entrapment, I would have told you that was crazy talk – fringe, conspiracy theory nonsense."

He added, "I can tell you now, having gone somewhat deep into this: It's not."

The biotech entrepreneur added why he changed his opinion after three years, pointing out his view that the government has "lied" to everyone on multiple things, including the COVID-19 origin, the Hunter Biden laptop controversy, and the Trump-Russia disinformation.

The biotech entrepreneur added why he changed his opinion after three years, pointing out his view that the government has "lied" to everyone on multiple things, including the COVID-19 origin, the Hunter Biden laptop controversy, and the Trump-Russia disinformation allegations. Ramaswamy emphasized that the government was lying about January 6 as well.

Vivek Ramaswamy alleges federal agents were present among rioters on January 6

Vivek Ramaswamy continued his attack on the government's stance on the insurrection, claiming the presence of federal law enforcement agents responsible for the violence that unfolded.

"Now we come to January 6. The reality is we know that there were federal law enforcement agents in that field," the presidential candidate said, adding, "We don't know how many."

Ramaswamy counter-attacked as the moderator pointed out that there was no evidence proving the federal agents' presence in the crowd on the day.

According to him, the government was involved through "entrapment," and asked why the government "suppressed footage" as the new footage showed police "rolling out the red carpet" inviting the rioters inside Capitol Hill.

Later, Ramaswamy shared the clip of the CNN Townhall conversation on his X account, reiterating his views on the riot.

He wrote, There is clear evidence that there was at the very least entrapment of peaceful protestors, similar to the fake Gretchen Whitmer kidnapping plot & countless other cases. The FBI won't admit how many undercover officers were in the field on January 6, Capitol police on one hand fired rubber bullets & explosives into a peaceful crowd who they then willingly later allowed to enter the Capitol."

He accused the government of manufacturing the attack to take down political opponents.

"That doesn't add up & the actual evidence turns the prior narrative upside down: if the deep state is willing to manufacture an "insurrection" to take down its political opponents, they can do anything. Once you see it, you can't unsee it," the Republican said.

"Auditioning for VP," another added the same opinion.
