Internet mocks Joe Biden for saying he would withdraw from race if diagnosed with 'a medical condition'
WASHINGTON, DC: President Joe Biden indicated that he may reconsider his decision to run for a second term only if advised by a doctor due to any medical condition.
The statement came during an interview with BET News's Ed Gordon amid the ongoing discussions about Biden's age, mental fitness and capability to serve another four-year term.
The president's disastrous debate performance against Donald Trump as he appeared to lack energy and stumbled throughout the event on June 27 sparked concerns among several Democrats who called on Biden to drop out of the race.

When asked by Gordon if there was any scenario in which he would change his mind about continuing the campaign, Biden replied, “If I had some medical condition that emerged. If doctors came to me and said, ‘You’ve got this problem, that problem.’ But, I made a serious mistake in the whole debate.”
The 81-year-old commander-in-chief acknowledged the ongoing debate surrounding his decision but stood firm on his current stance.
“Look, when I originally ran … I said I was going to be a transitional candidate and I thought that I would be able to move from this and pass it on to someone else,” said Biden.
“But I didn’t anticipate things getting so, so, so divided, and quite frankly, I think the only thing, age brings a little bit of wisdom, and I think I’ve demonstrated that. I know how to get things done for the country," he continued.
“There’s more to do, and I’m reluctant to walk away from that,” the president added.
In the post-debate interview with ABC, Biden defended his health as he dismissed concerns that the debate performance indicated any serious condition, attributing it to exhaustion from recent foreign travel, according to The Hill.
Internet doubles down on Joe Biden noting health as a deciding factor in reelection bid
As Biden revealed that he would reevaluate his second term bid in the 2024 race only if he is diagnosed with a medical condition, netizens expressed their doubts on whether the statement is a strategy for the president's exit from the presidential campaign as he continues to face criticism and calls from prominent Democrats to step aside.
"So they're totally going to replace him before November," a user on X (formerly Twitter) wrote while another user tweeted, "Sounds like a graceful exit strategy and a bridge to bring in someone else."
