MILWAUKEE, WISCONSIN: Milwaukee Mayor Cavalier Johnson expressed strong objections to reports claiming that former President Donald Trump described Milwaukee — the upcoming host city for the RNC — as a "horrible city."

These reports emerged from a private meeting Trump had with Republican Congress members.

Cavalier Johnson criticized Donald Trump's comments

On Thursday, June 13, morning, Jake Sherman of Punchbowl News tweeted about Trump's disparaging remark, stating that the former president had said, “Milwaukee, where we are having our convention, is a horrible city.”

Several Wisconsin Republicans in the US Congress have publicly attempted to deflect from Sherman's reporting with inconsistent statements, yet Mayor Johnson appeared to remain unaffected by these attempts, as reflected in his public comments later that Thursday afternoon.

As per Mediaite, during an outdoor press conference, Johnson responded to Trump's remarks, stating, "While Donald Trump was talking about things that he thinks are horrible, all of us lived through his presidency, so, right back at you, buddy. I’d say that, look, obviously Donald Trump is wrong about something yet again."

He further added, "I find it kind of perplexing, I find it kind of strange, that he would insult the largest city in Wisconsin because he’s running for president. He obviously wants to win Wisconsin, go win the election."

"And so to insult the state that’s hosting your convention, I think is kind of kind of bizarre, actually kind of unhinged, in a way," he continued saying.

Johnson concluded, "Especially considering the fact that, you know, in Milwaukee, there are about 50,000 Republicans who live right here in the city. So you’re calling their home horrible? I mean, I don’t quite understand that."

Internet slammed Donald Trump

A reader said talking of Trump, "Open Mouth, Insert Foot. Trump is literally the worst."

Another reader added, "Trump hates America, nothing new here."

A third commentator added, "Now that Trump's dementia has rendered him unable to fake civility, things should get interesting... His true opinion of his inbred base may slip out, and THEN hes in BIG trouble..."

One slammed Trump saying, "Fun fact: on Trumps last day in office a total of 400,000 Americans were dead of Covid-19 because of Trump’s leadership failures and his stated desire to “downplay.” The pandemic."

"Fun Fact#2 Trump said he would pardon all J6rs on the way out, instead, he pardoned 85 drug dealers," a person replied to the above comment.
