WASHINGTON, DC: Donald Trump pledged to undo new gun laws if he is reelected this November, but cautioned gun enthusiasts that further gun restrictions could be imposed if Joe Biden wins, according to Daily Mail.

In an address to the National Rifle Association on Saturday, May 18, he stoked excitement among many of his supporters by pledging to begin defending Second Amendment rights at noon on the day of the inauguration.

Trump stated the first step to be taken in this regard would be to fire Steve Dettelbach, the director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

He said, "The bad guys are not giving up their guns. They will be so happy if the Biden regime gets four more years. They are coming for your guns ... 100 percent."

The NRA fully supported Trump during the election campaign in 2016. The gun industry applauded his appointment of three conservative justices to the Supreme Court during his tenure in office.

However, the group's membership and income have declined since then. Shortly before a Manhattan jury convicted him and two other executives guilty of embezzling millions of dollars, Wayne LaPierre resigned as CEO.

Notably, three years ago, the NRA filed for bankruptcy, but a judge dismissed the petition because it was not submitted in good faith.

Nevertheless, its yearly conference remains a critical platform for mobilizing Second Amendment supporters, which Trump will need to beat President Joe Biden in November.

During his NRA address, Trump also avowed to shut down the border. He spent time criticizing the judge overseeing his hush money case in New York and the gag order that forbids him from assaulting witnesses.

He presented the gun owners in front of him with a reason to support him. Using a British term for 'fire', he said, "At noon on inauguration day, we will sack the anti-gun fanatic Steve Dettelbach. Have you heard of him? He's a disaster ... and replace him with an ATF director who respects the sacred right to keep and bear arms."

Before assuming the position in 2022, Dettelbach advocated for a prohibition on 'assault-style' guns, and Republicans continue to view him with distrust. During his speech, Trump emphasized to his audience the value of voting.

He said, "I don't know what it is. Perhaps it's a form of rebellion because you're rebellious people, aren't you? But gun owners don't vote. What is that all about?"

Internet trolls Trump as he pledges to undo Biden's gun control measures

People online trolled Donald Trump as he assured to change Joe Biden's gun control measures if he wins the 2024 election.

A user posted on X, "He sounds like his aide forgot to plug him into the charger this morning and he's running on battery saver mode" while one added, "Even the voices in his head are tired of hearing him."

A person also wrote, "So sick of him and his damn lies" whereas one mentioned, "Imagine waiting over two hours for this firecracker of a speech."

A user stated, "He knows the speech very well. It's the one about guns called 'guns guns guns'" while one wrote, "He must have been too high to go on until now. How's that working out?"
