LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Alec Baldwin, who has been married to Hilaria Baldwin since 2012, couldn’t help but call Barbra Streisand the "hottest woman ever," raising eyebrows among fans.

On a recently resurfaced video of Streisand singing 'Lover, Come Back To Me' in 1965 that was posted by one of her Instagram fan accounts on October 24, Alec commented, "My God. This is the hottest woman. Ever."

Previously, in an October 2018 interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Alec gushed about Streisand and stated, "I said it before and I’ll say it again, right now we could be divorced and be very happy, the two of us. I could have been a great Barbra Streisand ex-husband."

Alec Baldwin's bold remark about Barbra Streisand sparks a wave of slamming remarks

After being mostly ignored for almost six weeks on social media, Alec's comment was highlighted in a repost of the video on Monday, December 11, by the Comments by Celebs Instagram account.

One said, "Very weird comment when he has a wife," while another questioned, "Isn't he married?"

"HILARIA IS NOT OK OMG CHECK ON HER," quipped a person, and an individual noted, "I would use the adjectives — classic, elegant, stunning, timeless. Hot, just seems below her essence."

Someone else asked, "Hotter than the wife????"

Others recalled the Massachusetts native Hilaria's Spanish origin theory, with one commenting, "Oh no! Hilaria is going to be muy mala [very bad]... how do you say angry."

Another, which referred to both Streisand's Jewish religion and Hilaria's historic 2020 Spanish origin controversy, said, "(Hilaria suddenly discovers she’s Jewish)."

"Hillary reading this somewhere wishing she had pretended to be Jewish instead of Spanish," commented another.

Though Alec might have been impressed by the singing sensation, Streisand has been blissfully married to James Brolin since July 1998.

Controversy over Hilaria Baldwin's supposed Spanish roots

In 2020, Hilaria faced criticism over her supposedly fake Spanish accent and for "impersonating a Spanish person," especially when a video of her mispronouncing the word "cucumber" in English during a cookery demonstration on 'Today' went viral.

Speaking with the New York Times, Hilaria attempted to put an end to the story by blaming everyone but herself for taking on a false identity. The article also noted that her name was Hillary, at least till 2009.

"There is not something I’m doing wrong, and I think there is a difference between hiding and creating a boundary," said Hilaria, speaking of the accusations brought against her.

She also took to Instagram to address the controversy, writing, "People who don't have your life experience can: 1. Accept it at face value & move on 2. Be curious & want to learn 3. Connect & find similarities to relate to What they shouldn't do is devalue."

Even though Hilaria does seem to have wealthy multigenerational roots in Boston, Massachusetts, on both sides of her family. However, her parents, Kathryn Hayward and David Thomas, only moved to Mallorca, Spain in 2011, as per Daily Mail.

The mother-of-seven is said to be of English, French-Canadian, German, Irish, and Slovak descent, leading to severe backlash over the claims regarding her Spanish roots.

On top of that, for more than ten years, Hilaria and Alec are said to have maintained that English was her second language.

To help her contribute "a bit of [her] culture," the couple's wedding even featured several Spanish elements. Moreover, they had chosen to give all of their seven children Spanish names: Carmen, Rafael, Leonardo, Romeo, Eduardo, Marilu, and Ilaria.

After facing a lot of backlash on social media, Hilaria attempted to address issues in a now-deleted Instagram video. She acknowledged that she was raised in the US and said, "Yes I am a white girl, my family is white."

She even went on to claim that she spent time in Spain as a child and grew up amid the two cultures, but failed to clarify if he had Spanish ancestry, as per Vox
