NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Co-host Steve Doocy welcomed singer and songwriter Lauren Daigle on the December 29 episode of 'Fox and Friends' to discuss her autobiography as well as belt out some of her holiday hits for the festive season.

Introducing the 32-year-old Christian music star, Doocy said that the two-time Grammy winner was launched into stardom by her song inspired by her faith, titled 'You Say'.

A portion of the song, which was released in 2018 as a part of Daigle's album 'Look Up Child', was played on the screen.

She also had a recent release, announced the co-host, a "self-titled album" with 23 songs.

'Getting on stage makes me feel alive'

While on the topic of her entry into the profession of music, Daigle shared, "When I was a little girl, I played a camel in the church play. I remember telling my mom, 'When I get (on the) stage, it makes me feel alive. I want to sing one day.'"

She mentioned that she fell ill thereafter, and had to stay confined to her home for the following two years. It was to help her through that tough time that her mother encouraged and aided her to pursue music.

"Because of that, my mom put me in voice lessons to help with depression… things like that… And so from there, it all began," she said.

Doocy shifted the conversation to Daigle's organization and the charity work undertaken by them.

"It's the thing that I get excited about," stated the singer. "It's the thing that makes me come alive."

"I always tell people (that) singing is just the beginning - it's the small vehicle to get to where we are going," she continued.

"I want to help… change legislatures for children. We have been working with kids all over the world and the country," she added.

"Where does it come from?" asked Doocy, to which Daigle simply replied, "My country, my faith."

Following the conversation, the singer and her band went on to perform their song 'Little Drummer Boy' as a holiday treat for the audience. The song was a part of Diagle's 2016 album titled 'Behold'.
