MEMPHIS, TENNESSEE: Lucy Hale, the singer and actress who once said she was a "textbook binge drinker", is marking a major milestone in her life which is two years of being free from alcohol.

The former 'Pretty Little Liars' star, 34, shared the news with her fans on Instagram on Tuesday, December 2, along with a photo of a quote by F Scott Fitzgerald.

 “For what it’s worth… it’s never too late, or in my case too early, to be whoever you want to be. There is no time limit. Start whenever you want," she said.

In her caption, the 'Truth or Dare' star wrote that quitting alcohol has been the “greatest gift” she has given to herself and expressed her gratitude for another year of “growth, growing pains, lessons, joys, and self realizations.”

The 'You Sound Good to Me' singer  continued, “To be able to show up as myself and to be greeted with such warmth and acceptance is something I do not take for granted ♥️.”

“Please know you are not alone and that you do not have to trek this path alone,” she said, adding “There is no right or wrong way to heal and it is deeply personal and unique to each of us.”

She continued, "My only advice is to remain open hearted, curious, and to find the people who see and support you. It does get better,” and signed off with, “Take it moment by moment ✨Lucy.”

Lucy Hale's past struggles with alcohol

This is not the first time Hale has spoken candidly about her alcohol issues. She also celebrated one year of sobriety on Jan 2, 2023, an "alternative Valentine’s Day."

In February 2023, she appeared on 'The Diary of a CEO' podcast and revealed that she had “been working on getting sober since I was 20.” She said that she used to believe that alcohol brought out the “real Lucy” and that it helped her cope with her busy mind.

She admitted that she was a “textbook binge drinker, blackout, wouldn’t remember what I did or what I said, which is scary.” Lucy Hale also said that she had an “allergy to alcohol” that her brain did not function like a normal drinker’s and that she always wanted more and that she was “willing to go to this crazy dark place every time.”

The 'CSI: Miami' star decided to get sober on January 2, 2022, because she realized she “deserves more out of this life.” She also credited her faith and spirituality for helping her stay on track. Hale is currently starring in the thriller series Ragdoll on AMC+ according to People.
