Jack Chisholm: Mystery surrounds student's death after 'strong swimmer' is found unresponsive in pool

BOKEELIA, FLORIDA: Jack Chisholm, 21, was discovered unconscious and subsequently died at the residence of a friend in Bokeelia, Florida.
He had been staying there for a month while employed at a tortoise sanctuary during his university break.
Chisholm was described as a "very happy chap" and an adept swimmer. He was a student at Newcastle University and resided with his family in Burford, Oxfordshire, England.
Notably, there were no indications of physical trauma, and Jack had no known history of mental health issues or enduring health problems.
Jack Chisholm's death concluded as 'accidental drowning'
Jack Chisholm was discovered drowned in a Florida swimming pool on Friday, June 9. The circumstances surrounding his death are shrouded in mystery, given his proficiency in swimming.
The County coroner categorized the incident as "inexplicable," attributing it to accidental drowning.
The inquest in Oxford revealed that Jack's body was discovered in the pool by Stephanie Derby. She called for help from her sister, Brooke Derby, who performed CPR in a failed attempt to revive the 21-year-old, as per Yahoo.
Coroner says there was no third-party involvement
Oxfordshire coroner Darren Salter was informed that a US detective investigation concluded Jack's cause of death was drowning, ruling out any third-party involvement.
Salter said, "There was uncertainty as to how and why Jack entered the water. It is to an extent inexplicable how he ended up in the water and how he could not get himself out."
After the tragic incident, Jack's body was repatriated for a funeral. The inquest revealed that Jack had been staying with a family friend for a month-long work experience placement at a tortoise sanctuary.
Salter said, “Jack Chisholm was a student at Newcastle University and was visiting Florida for a few weeks at a tortoise sanctuary."
He continued, “On the afternoon of June 9 he was alone at the swimming pool and had a siesta and swim after lunch."
Salter also claimed, “Jack was last seen at approximately 1.30 pm but was discovered at 6 pm submerged in the pool. It is not known how he entered the water or what caused the difficulty as he was a good swimmer - but there was no third-party involvement.”
A post-mortem examination detected a hemorrhage to the left trapezius muscle and some abrasion on his left eye. These injuries, however, were considered minor.
Jack's parents, Martin and Tania Chisholm, shared heartfelt sentiments about their son in a written statement read by Salter.
They said, "Jack was going to go out to Florida for month for a nice experience. He was a very happy chap with a young and happy life. We believe in our hearts that it is a tragic accident," as per Daily Mail.
