Jackson Pierce, 18, has been charged in connection with the shooting death of 23-year-old Dalton Coleman (St. Peters Police Department)

ST. PETERS, ILLINOIS: An 18-years-old boy allegedly claimed that he shot a belligerent man at his home on Monday, January 8 but instead of going to authorities, he and a juvenile wrapped the victim’s body in an air mattress, reports Law&Crime

According to the probable cause statement from St Charles County, Missouri, accused, Jackson L Pierce said after police arrived at the scene, "Dog, I shoulda f*****g called the cops myself." He added, “Bro … I am, I am dumb as f**k.”

Who was Dalton Coleman?

St Peters cops identified the victim in a Facebook post as 23-year-old Dalton Coleman of the city of O’Fallon.

According to documents, Pierce is accused of second-degree murder, armed criminal action, and evidence tampering.

He is being jailed at the St Charles County Jail under a $1 million cash-only bond.

The juvenile's case is being handled by St Charles County Family Court, according to police.

According to records, authorities enforcement became aware of the incident after Pierce's roommate's lawyer got in touch with them.

This man told officers that he left the house early on Monday afternoon to assist a friend with her St Louis City business.

Pierce, Coleman (name withheld from court filings), and the minor resided at the residence.

He said that Pierce soon called him while he was en route to help the friend.

Pierce allegedly complained about the victim, in the words of the affidavit, “asking for unknown belongings and other erratic behavior.”

“The witness stated that he attempted to calm the situation over the phone, by speaking to both of them; ultimately telling Pierce to collect items of value, including a firearm which was kept in a cabinet above the microwave in the kitchen, and store them in his room," police documents said.

Pierce, however, allegedly called him minutes later to describe having shot and killed the victim.

He and the juvenile had gone into a bedroom to distance themselves from the man, but this man forced his way into the bedroom, as per Pierce who cited the same in documents.

According to this report, the victim failed to strike Pierce, and instead, they fought for the gun that was lying in the bedroom's open.

According to reports, Pierce stated that "victim 1 was shot" during the altercation.

According to one account, Pierce continued shooting the victim even after he had been hit three or four times and was still standing.

The man was shot fourteen times, according to the defendant's admission.

The witness described telling Pierce to call the cops; Pierce refused.

The witness said he was going to contact his lawyer to find out what to do; the lawyer and witness called the cops about the killing.

Jackson Pierce kept Dalton Coleman's body in air mattress

A SWAT team arrived and had Pierce and the juvenile step out of the home. Pierce allegedly admitted there was a dead person in the residence.

Upon executing a search warrant, the SWAT team discovered, in an upstairs bedroom closet, a rolled-up air mattress that was securely secured and wrapped with an electrical cable severed from a lamp, according to records.

The victim had been covered in the air mattress and had his head wrapped in a white plastic rubbish bag.

Documents show that after being read his Miranda rights once more, Pierce supposedly told investigators a story that was quite similar.

He said to police that there was a physical confrontation when the victim forced his way into an upper bedroom.

"Pierce stated that the victim was attempting to strike him when Pierce observed the victim look at the firearm, which had been left in the open on a bedside table, and appear to move towards it,” cops said.

Pierce allegedly said he shot the man in the abdomen, but the victim did not go down.

In this account, he fired 14 times until the gun was empty, and the victim did not fall until the final shot.

“Pierce stated that the victim never touched the firearm,” police said.

He and the juvenile allegedly attempted to clean up the mess with dish soap and towels.

He acknowledged that the victim was placed on the air mattress and relocated to a different bedroom by him and the minor.

Documents from the preliminary autopsy revealed that the individual had about fifteen gunshot wounds to his face, hand, and abdomen.
