Corinne Foxx opens up about her 'special' engagement party in dad Jamie's physical rehab room

CHICAGO, ILLINOIS: Corinne Foxx's engagement to Joe Hooten was a family-centered event as she shared her now-husband made sure her father, actor Jamie Foxx, could be part of the moment despite his ongoing recovery from a serious health scare.

In an interview with Vogue, Corinne revealed that Hooten proposed to her in 2023 while Jamie watched the proposal unfold via FaceTime.

Speaking about how Corinne Foxx and Joe Hooten celebrated their engagement at Jamie Foxx's physical rehabilitation center, the actress said, “He… planned a very special post-engagement party in my dad’s room in Chicago.”

“It was a small celebration but it was so intimate and meaningful," she added.

Hooten had initially planned to propose to Corinne during a trip to Ireland in the spring of 2023. However, after her father Jamie was unexpectedly hospitalized in April, he quickly adjusted his plans.

Corinne had previously shared with her social media followers that her father had experienced a “medical complication” but was “on his way to recovery.”

At the time, the actress spent the summer in Chicago while Jamie recuperated. The actor's health scare left him hospitalized and “gone for 20 days.”

“Little did I know that Joe had changed his plans so he could still propose on the same day — just in a different city,” she explained, according to People.

In September 2023, Corinne Foxx and Joe Hooten tied the knot in a heartfelt ceremony at Jamie Foxx’s home in Los Angeles.

The wedding marked a significant moment for the Foxx family following the 'Due Date' actor's health crisis.

Corinne recalled the touching moment she walked down the aisle with her father “to a strings version of ‘Georgia On My Mind’ by Ray Charles.”

“There wasn’t a dry eye in the house,” she said of the wedding, which brought her family and close friends together in celebration of both her love story and her father’s recovery.

After Corinne posted about her engagement on Instagram in December 2023, Jamie expressed being particularly emotional about the occasion.

“@joe.hooten when you whispered to me a while back that you were gonna ask my baby girl to marry you I had tears of joy in my soul … can’t wait to walk you down that aisle," the 'Project Power' actor commented.

Corinne and Hooten have been together since 2018 when they met while attending the University of Southern California.
