CHICAGO, ILLINOIS: Jamie Miller, a 29-year-old Chicago resident, has been charged with one felony count of murder with a strong probability of death or injury in connection with the violent attack that claimed the life of 47-year-old Andrew Hulburt outside Chicago's House of Blues back in November.

Miller's arrest took place on Thursday, January 18, in the 7000 block of South California Avenue.

What led to Andrew Hulburt's tragic death?

The Chicago Police Department identified him as one of the offenders who participated in the homicide of the victim in the 300 block of North Dearborn Street.

The incident occurred on November 15, just before 11:30 pm, when Hulburt, the victim, left the Skinny Puppy concert at House of Blues and was walking on the sidewalk.

Two men, including Miller, approached him, asking for money. Subsequently, one of the assailants punched the victim in the head. Officers found the victim unresponsive on the sidewalk, and he was rushed to Northwestern Hospital in critical condition with a head injury. Sadly, he later succumbed to his injuries.

What are the charges against Jamie Miller?

Miller is now facing a first-degree murder charge and is set to appear for a detention hearing at the Leighton Criminal Courthouse. Further details about the specific allegations against Miller are expected to be revealed during the court appearance.

Additionally, Miller's arrest record in Chicago mostly comprises misdemeanors, including violations related to soliciting without a license, CWB Chicago reported.

Friends and acquaintances describe Hulburt as a kind and welcoming individual.

Kris Decklever, a friend who launched a GoFundMe to support Hulburt's mother with expenses, said, "Drew was the kindest person I’d ever met. Growing up, he was a friend to everyone, and one of my best friends."

“We drifted apart as adults do, but we picked up as we had never been apart,” Decklever said. “He will be greatly missed.”
