ANN ARBOR, MICHIGAN: Residents of Ann Arbor were surprised when a local woman opened her door to find herself face-to-face with Jane Fonda.

On Monday, September 15, the Academy Award-winning actress who has been a longtime political activist was in town canvassing for Vice President Kamala Harris for the 2024 presidential race.

The surprise visit, captured in a video, shows Jane Fonda and the unidentified woman warmly embracing.

The local woman is seen expressing her surprise and gratitude, telling Fonda, "Makes me want to cry."

The actress responded with an equally heartfelt message, saying, "This is such an important election" and noted that she’s "doing everything I can" to support Harris.

"I’ve never done this for a president. We have to get [Harris and Walz] elected," she added.

Jane Fonda's urgent call for climate action

Later that evening, Jane Fonda, who is known for her activism on a range of issues, spoke at a campaign office in Ann Arbor. At the time, she emphasized on the critical importance of global climate change.

Speaking to a crowd of supporters, the actress said, "We can’t lose four years," stressing the need to drastically cut carbon emissions.

“We have to cut our emissions in half by 2030. We’re going in the wrong direction, and we’re going to be galloping in the wrong direction if Trump gets elected," said Fonda.

"We cannot allow that to happen," she added.

Fonda urged the public to recognize the urgency of the climate crisis.

On Tuesday, September 16, Jane Fonda participated in a climate-focused discussion on the University of Michigan campus, where she reiterated the gravity of the situation.

Warning that the impact of climate change is already being felt, she said that it is not just an environmental issue but also a public health crisis, according to MLive.

"It’s not just the climate. It’s our health. They’re killing us, and we’re paying them to do it," the actress told the attendees.

She argued that the fight against climate change would become “impossible” if Trump were re-elected in November, stating, "We lose if he gets elected."
