WASHINGTON, DC: During a heated House Select Subcommittee hearing on the coronavirus pandemic on June 3, Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga) tried to confront Dr Anthony Fauci with tough questions but faced criticism for her incendiary rhetoric and was vigorously challenged by another member of the Congress.

Fauci, who served as the top US infectious disease expert until his retirement in 2022, faced rigorous questioning from Republican lawmakers regarding the origins of the Covid-19 pandemic and the potential role of US-funded research in China.

Greene seized her moment to challenge Fauci's credentials, refusing to acknowledge him “Mr Fauci.” “Do you think that’s appropriate? Do the American people deserve to be abused like that, Mr Fauci?” Greene questioned. “Because you’re not ‘Dr,’ you’re ‘Mr Fauci’ in my few minutes.”

Her remarks drew immediate objection from Representative Jamie Raskin (D-Md), who queried the subcommittee chairman, Representative Brad Wenstrup (R-Ohio), on the rules of decorum, specifically whether it was permissible “to deny that a doctor is a doctor just because we don’t want him to be a doctor?”

“Yes, because in my time, that man does not deserve to have a license,” Greene added. “As a matter of fact, it should be revoked, and he belongs in prison.” Wenstrup intervened, suspending Greene’s inflammatory comments saying, “The gentlelady should recognize the doctor as a doctor.”

When it was Representative Jared Moskowitz’s (D-Fla) turn to speak, he opted to address the contentious atmosphere directly. “I saw a member of this committee question whether or not you represent science,” Moskowitz said, addressing Fauci. “I did want you to know most Americans don’t think she represents Congress.”

The hearing, marked by high tensions and sharp exchanges, left many members stunned. Representative Robert Garcia (D-Fla) characterized it as possibly “the most insane hearing I’ve attended,” while extending an apology to Fauci for Greene’s conduct.

“I lost both of my parents during the pandemic, so I take this very personally, especially when other members of this body — who are tasked to be responsible and actually help the American people — attack medical professionals like you,” Garcia reportedly told Fauci.

Internet applauds Jared Moskowitz for hitting back at Marjorie Taylor Greene

A third said, "BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA omg!"

"Jared Moskowitz with the mic drop!" read a tweet.

"Ouch!" said a user. "Moskowitz does not play with his disdain for MTG," commented a user.

"Moskiwitz hit the nail on the head……..again," mocked another

One more user said "MTG definitely doesn’t represent “Congress” - She’s just a hateful bigot"
