SEVILLE, OHIO: Jeffrey Dahmer’s father Lionel has reportedly died in hospice care. He was 87.

His death came to light on Tuesday, December 5, after a staff member of the Medina County Health Department was informed, The Sun reported.

Jeffrey Dahmer’s father Lionel was struggling with heart issues

Though the reason behind his death is yet to be confirmed, it was reported that he was a heart patient, and was on medication.

As per a source, the father of the deceased serial killer, who supported his son even after his conviction, was admitted to hospice care in October.

His health reportedly began to deteriorate after losing his second wife, Shari in January.

Lionel ‘was almost ready to go’

The insider told the publication, “It was slow at first, but he didn’t want to get up and move as much.”

The source further revealed, “It was almost as if he was ready to go.”

“There are plenty of people out there who have a lot of respect and admiration for Lionel because of what he went through with Jeff and how he dealt with it. It’s a very sad day for those who cared about him,” the source added.

A lawyer of Lionel also said, “I have no comment at this time.”

Lionel hallucinated 'about seeing Jeff'

Besides, the source has given more details about Lionel’s final days. The insider disclosed, “In his final months, he was heavily medicated and had hallucinations about seeing Jeff."

“He was incoherent and asking if people had seen Jeff. He said that Jeff had come to see him. He also asked about Shari, it was almost as if he was trying to remember happier times,” the tipster shared.

Lionel was 'angry' over his son’s death

This comes after Lionel’s caregiver Jeb told 'The Sun' in October last year, “When Scarver gets brought up, he gets pissed,” referring to Christopher Scarver, who murdered Dahmer at the Columbia Correctional Institution in Portage, Wisconsin in 1994.

Jeb further shared, “He is still very angry about it. Why weren’t there any guards standing there watching? All three of them had improvised weapons right there.”

“Why didn’t any of them do anything? As far as I know, and the last I talked to Lionel, he believes the guards looked the other way and let it happen,” he added.

Also, referring to the Netflix series 'Dahmer - Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story,' Jeb mentioned, "This new Dahmer show blew up really quick. Anything Dahmer-related blows up. It seems like every time a movie or series comes out, that's when a lot of the crazy starts happening with the fanboys and the fan girls."
