CHARLOTTE COUNTY, FLORIDA: Jennifer Crumrine, 54, was reportedly fatally stabbed by her son, Connor Crumrine, 23, whom she intended to take to a mental health facility due to concerns over his well-being a day after Christmas.
The accused's elder sister was the one to alert the authorities, while another sister intervened to halt the stabbing. Even though their mother was initially able to survive the attack, she later succumbed to her injuries at the hospital.
Connor Crumrine's sister heard their mother Jennifer Crumrine scream during the fatal stabbing
As per Law&Crime, the police detailed, "Last night, Connor began making statements to the family trying to teach them how to get into a fetal position and making statements about heaven and hell."
They added, "During this time, Connor would also make a finger gun gesture towards them. Due to a fear that Connor may cause harm to them during the night the rest of the family kept their bedroom doors locked."
Notably, Connor, who is the youngest sibling, allegedly instructed his younger sister to "sleep face down tonight so that he can take her to heaven and keep her from going to hell," as mentioned in the affidavit.
Fearing potential harm, the rest of the family took shifts to sleep. The situation escalated on the morning of December 26, a day planned for a family cruise.
Despite this, the mother skipped the cruise to arrange Connor's stay at Charlotte Behavioral Health Care. When she informed him of her plans, he delayed getting ready.
The mother then asked the older sister to call the facility. While on the phone, the sister heard her mother scream, "He’s stabbing me, he’s stabbing me."
Authorities had to tase Connor Crumrine after he ignored multiple commands
Upon arrival, the deputies discovered Connor in a struggle with the younger sister, who had sustained a stab wound in the upper back, according to documents.
It states, "Connor still had the knife in his possession but was not actively using it at the time. Connor was given multiple commands, which he ignored, and was ultimately tased, continued to be non-compliant with law enforcement orders, and had to be physically removed from the bedroom and detained on scene."
First responders reportedly transported Jennifer to Fawcett Memorial Hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries.
Presently, Connor faces charges of three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and one count of resisting an officer without violence.
Deputies mentioned on Friday, December 29, that they were collaborating with prosecutors to update the charges to reflect the stabbing death. The defendant reportedly declined to speak post-Miranda and requested an attorney.
As per records, his bond has been set at $710,000, with an arraignment scheduled for January 29.
