Jeremy Renner feels ‘blessed’, says he would’ve ‘messed up’ people's lives if he had died in the accident
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: A year ago, Jeremy Renner was hit by a snowplow while riding a snowmobile with his nephew on New Year's Day.
The Marvel Cinematic Universe actor, 52, opened up about the horrific incident and how it changed his life on CNN. He said he felt “blessed” to have survived and recovered, and that he would’ve “messed up” a lot of people’s lives if he had died.
Jeremy Renner said 'I have so many things to live for, brother'
Renner said he had a lot to celebrate this year after the tragic incident that almost took his life. “I’m with my family who were actually all with me last year,” he said, adding “We have a lot to celebrate this year and kind of recorrect what happened last year."
"I feel pretty blessed. … I’m just so blessed that I have so many things to live for, brother. I have a giant family. I have a 10-year-old daughter, [and] I would’ve disappointed and really messed up a lot of people’s lives if I would’ve passed, and so, there’s a lot for me to get better for," he continued.
Jeremy Renner said his 'recovery became a relief' for him
The actor, who joked that he was a “pretty stubborn S.O.B.”, recalled the horrifying moment when he was hit by a snowplow while riding a snowmobile with his nephew. He said he had to fight for his life and his recovery was a one-way road in his mind.
“My recovery became relief for me because I knew I could give relief to my family, my daughter and all those that I really affected. And my poor nephew, who was there with me on that day, I gave him images that he can never unsee, but I know that my healing would be healing for him,” he said.
Jeremy Renner said he had a strong motivation to get better
Renner, who is now fully healed, admitted that he never thought about his own physical pain or anguish before the accident. He said he had a positive attitude and a strong motivation to get better.
“I had so many things to fight for, so the one-way road of recovery was my mental, sort of, attitude, and that attitude was always to get better,” he concluded.
“There’s no option other than that. And I still work at every part, every day, and thank God that I have a lot to fight for,” he further added.
