Rita's husband, Alex, announced her death in a heartfelt post on her Facebook account. She died peacefully on November 14, 2024, surrounded by loved ones.

In his Facebook post, Alex shared his grief, revealing the depth of their bond over their 16 years together.
“It is with heavy heart and my deepest sadness, surrounded by her family and friends, Rita passed away peacefully and quietly on November 14, 2024,” Alex wrote.
The couple, who married in July 2023 in an outdoor ceremony, cherished their time together.
“We traveled the world and met many people who we consider friends. Rita was my bestest friend, my lover, and my beautiful wife,” Alex wrote.
Remembering her compassionate spirit, he added, “Rita always had a loving soul and wanted to help everyone, even total strangers."
"As everyone knows, Christmas was Rita’s favorite holiday—actually, it was every day for her—and she started a fundraiser to help a local charity," Alex added.
Rita Carrey's career and family background
Rita Carrey, along with siblings Jim Carrey, John Carrey, and Patricia Carrey, was born to Kathleen and Percy Carrey and grew up in their native Canada, near Toronto.
Rita built a career in music and media, co-hosting and producing 'The Peet & Reet Show' and pursuing her passion for entertainment, People reported.
Her family is planning a candlelight vigil in her honor on December 7, 2024, at Heathcote Terrace in St Catharines.
Following the vigil, attendees are encouraged to join the 'Christmas on the Terrace' public event to support Gillian’s Place, a local charity.
