Jimmy Kimmel trolls Elon Musk over alleged drug use and naming his baby Techno Mechanicus
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Elon Musk found himself in a bit of controversy over the weekend, with a Wall Street Journal expose delving into claims by insiders that he is a regular and substantial user of illegal drugs.
Musk denied these allegations, but on the January 9 episode of 'Jimmy Kimmel Live', Kimmel playfully suggested that Musk should just embrace the "drug excuse" and roll with it.
'If I was him, I would take the drug excuse and run with it'
Starting with the Musk news, Kimmel said, “Elon Musk is pushing back on concerns from members of his companies who believe he uses illegal drugs."
“Musk says he doesn’t. Which would mean that when he named his baby ‘Techno Mechanicus,’ he had no excuse whatsoever," he added.
Kimmel further said, “According to the Wall Street Journal, any illegal drug use by Elon Musk would violate federal policies and could risk Space X’s contracts with the government. It has been alleged that he’s taken a variety of drugs, including cocaine, LSD, ketamine, and Twitter.”
Kimmel playfully teased Musk's recent Twitter name change. "I mean, I apologize, X. No, wait, I mean X. I always get those confused," Kimmel quipped, cleverly incorporating a double entendre involving Musk's quirky new Twitter handle and a colloquial term for MDMA.
“He says he tested, he’s clean in every test. I have to say, I don’t know much about business, but it seems like it’s never a good sign when your CEO has to be like- ‘Don’t worry, I’m not on drugs. I am just naturally unhinged!” Kimmel added, as his jokes seemed never-ending.
“If I was him, I would take the drug excuse and run with it", he concluded.
Kimmel also covered a range of topics, including the latest developments in Donald Trump's legal challenges and the NCAA football championship.
Tesla reportedly sought assistance from Elon Musk's brother
In a parallel setting, according to Business Insider, Elon Musk's alleged drug use and unpredictable behavior led a former Tesla director, Linda Johnson Rice, to decide against seeking re-election to the company's board, as reported by The Wall Street Journal.
During her two-year term on Tesla's board ending in 2019, Linda Johnson Rice reportedly expressed concerns about Elon Musk's substance use to fellow board members, according to The Journal.
Linda Johnson Rice reportedly informally suggested that the Tesla board should investigate Elon Musk's alleged drug use, encompassing substances like ketamine, LSD, cocaine, and ecstasy. However, The Wall Street Journal states that her concerns were allegedly ignored by the board.
Reportedly, certain current directors at Tesla sought assistance from Elon Musk's brother, Kimbal, regarding Musk's behavior. Notably, they were cautious not to explicitly mention the word "drugs" when expressing their concerns.
