WASHINGTON, DC: Former Trump National Security Adviser John Bolton expressed his disappointment on Wednesday regarding Nikki Haley's endorsement of former President Donald Trump for the 2024 election.

This endorsement comes just months after Haley criticized Trump as “disgusting” and “unhinged,” raising eyebrows and igniting a storm of reactions online, with many labeling her as an opportunist.

John Bolton suggests Nikki Haley's support for Donald Trump Is politically calculated

During an appearance on CNN’s 'The Situation Room', Bolton did not hold back. “I’m disappointed,” he told host Wolf Blitzer. “I think she’s obviously made a political calculation that it’s in her interests to support Donald Trump.”

"I am disappointed, but a lot of Republicans are making the same calculation because the performance of the Biden administration has been so appalling, and I believe, you know, if Donald Trump wins the election, on election night his victory speech should start off by thanking Joe Biden and the Democratic Party for nominating Biden against him," he added.

Bolton also reiterated his stance on the upcoming election, stating that he would be writing in former Vice President Dick Cheney, as he did in 2020. “I don’t think Biden or Trump are fit to be president and I’m not gonna ruin my vote by voting for somebody who’s not competent to hold the job,” he said.

John Bolton claims Nikki Haley’s endorsement is a bid for the VP spot

Furthermore, Bolton insinuated that Haley’s endorsement might be a strategic move to position herself as Trump’s running mate.

“I noticed that in her remarks, at least as reported in the press, she said that she wanted to support a president who would back America’s allies and hold its enemies accountable, and that’s not Donald Trump,” said Bolton.

He warned against this, highlighting Trump’s controversial demands from his Vice President regarding the 2020 election results and January 6 events.

“I hope she’s not thinking of being his vice president because I think for Trump the two questions that are most important in interviewing prospective vice presidents are, number one, 'Do you think the 2020 election was stolen?' and number two, 'If I asked you to do something akin to what I asked Mike Pence to do on January 6, would you do it?' and anybody who answers 'yes' to either one of those questions I think is disqualified to be vice president," Bolton said.

"But I think if she’s interested in that nomination, she’s gonna have to answer affirmatively," he stated.

In a related discussion at the Hudson Institute, Haley acknowledged Trump’s imperfections but pointed to the Biden administration as a "catastrophe," further cementing her support for the former president.

"She's the front running for the VP spot. He needs a women badly and Noem is done. Haley would supposedly bring her 20% supporters with her but they weren't following her cause they think she's so great, at least some were because they don't want to vote for Trump," stated a user.
