MANHATTAN, NEW YORK CITY: On the June 7 episode of HBO’s 'Real Time with Bill Maher', Senator John Fetterman (D-Pa) and host Bill Maher fervently discussed President Biden's chances of winning reelection.

When Maher questioned whether Biden is the best candidate for the Democrats, Fetterman responded, “He’s actually the only American that’s ever beat [former President Trump] in an election,” as featured in a Mediaite clip.

Biden's odds are on the rise

According to Newsweek report, Biden's chances of winning the presidential election are increasing, with a series of positive polls.

Newsweek also reported that Polymarket, an online prediction platform where users can place bets on world events, the incumbent president currently has a 44 percent chance of winning the election. In contrast, the presumed Republican nominee, Donald Trump, has a 47 percent chance of securing a victory.

Fetterman further emphasized his point, stating that he believes Biden is “the only Democrat that could win.”

“I do believe Joe Biden has that ability to win,” Fetterman told Maher. “We have a great bench, but I think it’s a very distinct kind of situation right now.”

Maher, expressing surprise, responded, “I’m surprised at that, but I’ll move on. I’m not on the same page there, but OK. I mean, it’s probably gonna be Joe Biden, and I’ll vote for him.”

Fetterman defends Biden against Dem critics, urges unity ahead of election

The Pennsylvania Democrat has been a strong defender of President Biden in the lead-up to this year’s presidential election.

He has even rebuked fellow Democrats who have intensified their criticism of the president, suggesting that they might as well don a “MAGA hat.”

“I don’t understand why,” Fetterman said on 'Morning Joe' on MSNBC, as per The New Republic reports.

“I don’t know what’s in it for you to do that whether you’re just chasing clout or you want to make it in the news or anything like that. But if you’re not willing to just support the president now and say these kinds of things, you might as well just get your MAGA hat, because you now are helping Trump with this,” he claimed.

During an earlier interview with MSNBC, Fetterman expressed confidence in Biden's prospects, stating, "Biden is going to win here in Pennsylvania, and I’ve always believed that whoever wins Pennsylvania is going to be the next president as well."

Netizens slam Fetterman for optimism on Biden's odds

Fetterman's claims did not go down well on the Internet. One viewer bluntly stated, "Delusional."

Another observer chimed in, "If that is indeed true then how flawed are the other demoncrats."

Meanwhile, a viewer highlighted, "He’s wrong on that one."

A follower contributed, "Anyone who would vote Biden in '24 is in desperate need of counseling."

A comment emphasized, "Democrats are failing."

Echoing this sentiment, another comment noted, "On this, we disagree. I can think of a half-dozen Democrats who have a better chance at beating Trump than Biden does.* Each would do a better job at leading the nation forward than Biden is able to. * That said, there is no way the powers-that-be will allow Trump to win."

Someone else elaborated, "If this election is so important, why have Democrats been on cruise control for four years instead of driving the whole party to finding the best candidate that will unequivocally beat Trump?"
