Jonathan Van Ness says they 'started sobbing' after procedure
Showing off a bandaged right hand, the 'Queer Eye' star said they "had to get that little, like IV, thing" as they were required to go under anesthesia for the surgery. "Never gone under anesthesia before," shared the 36-year-old.
"And when I came out of the surgery — which went really good, you guys. I’m gonna be great. I’m gonna be fine — do you know what I said?," Van Ness said.
"I woke up and I said ‘Maid in Manhattan,’” Van Ness said, referencing to the 2002 rom-com where Jennifer Lopez plays a posh hotel maid who pretends to be a socialite.
"I haven’t thought about that movie since 2006 or whatever. And then I started sobbing," they added.
Jonathan Van Ness 'didn't want a mortician' to do their hair
In a later Instagram Story, Jonathan Van Ness admitted they had some "morbid" thoughts before the procedure began.
"I literally woke up early to wash and blow dry my hair in case I dropped dead on the table or something, because I didn’t want a mortician to do it," said the 'Curious Now' podcaster.
Showcasing their luxurious locks with courtesy to their line of JVN haircare products, Van Ness said, "I love blowout milk so much," referencing their own JVN Blowout Styling Milk product, according to People.
"Like, look how good. Is this the hair of someone who just came out of surgery?," Van Ness added. However, they received an update from their doctors regarding the expected post-surgery pain.
"They said the pain’s going to be intense tomorrow. Oh my God, but my hair looks great, so," Van Ness stated.
"So basically I just need to, like, rest and do no strenuous activity for, like, literally a week. A long time for me," they added.
Asking for recommendations on what to watch during recovery saying they have already finished 'The Gilded Age', Van Ness engaged with fans, sharing their plans for a week of rest.
"What else am I watching, guys?" Van Ness asked. The following day, the television personality shared a video featuring a lively combination of their "Painkiller, coffee…dance" as they asked fans to guess the movie they were impersonating.
The movie was Sandra Bullock's film 'Miss Congeniality' released in 2000 which Van Ness stated "speaks to all gay millennials in a very deep way."
