Joy Behar hints at her next career move after she 'retires' from 'The View'
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Joy Behar, the 81-year-old morning talk show host, talked about her plans for the future during the December 7 episode of the podcast, 'The View: Behind the Table'.
The topic was broached when Brian Teta, executive producer of 'The View', mentioned that Behar only gives feedback about the show when she is not present on camera.
Behar replied that she tunes in to watch the show on her day off, which is Monday, and often emails Teta with "Hot Topic" ideas.
On those days, her co-hosts Whoopi Goldberg, 68, Sara Haines, 46, Ana Navarro, 51, Sunny Hostin, 55, and Alyssa Farah Griffin, 34, run the show.
When Teta joked that the presenter "has a lot of thoughts" when she is absent, the latter went on to propose a new position away from the panel.
Which role does Joy Behar want in the future?
"You know what, I'm a good producer," stated Behar, to which Teta agreed, "You are a good producer."
"If I ever retire, maybe they should hire me as a consultant and a producer. Not an everyday producer; I don't want to do that. But as a consultant. They should," Behar went on to say.
The other ventures of Joy Behar
Behar's work is not limited to the set of 'The View', as the television personality shared that she recently wrote and starred in her new play, 'Bonkers in the Burroughs: Five Short Plays'.
"It's great. It's my fifth act. And to start something like this at my age, I think, should be encouraging to people. It's never too late to start, and get yourself into something new," she claimed.
Behar is also working on a new non-fiction book, which is scheduled to be released in late 2024 or early 2025, according to The U.S. Sun.
Joy Behar talked of her retirement plans in September
In a previous episode of the podcast, when Teta told Behar, "People are always asking me, 'Is it true Joy's retiring? Is Joy walking out?' I said you enjoy this too much. I think you like doing this," the latter had replied that she was not walking away soon.
"First of all, people like me don't retire. I'm a creative person…I'm a writer. There's no such thing as retiring. You mean, will I quit this show?" she asked.
As Teta replied affirmative, Joy stated, "Okay, that's a more specific way of saying it. I don't want them taking me out here feet first."
"No, certainly not, but you'll outlive us all. I'm not worried about that," ended Teta.
