Notably, 10 lawyers having cases before Southern District of Florida judge Cannon were interviewed by the news outlet, and their accounts presented a picture of a trial-experienced judge who frequently becomes mired down by pointless legal issues and finds it difficult to effectively handle her docket of cases.

Notably, Judge Aileen Cannon worked for seven years as an attorney in the Justice Department, but she only participated in four criminal prosecutions until Trump nominated her to the federal bench in 2020. Lawyers said that in her four years as a judge, she hasn't presided over many criminal cases.
A lawyer told CNN, "She just seems overwhelmed by the process." According to other attorneys, she allows little, incidental matters to overshadow the important aspects of cases. In a situation where there was no disagreement, she has also denied joint motions that were agreed upon by both sides.
Moreover, describing her as "incredibly hands-on", one lawyer said, "You can’t assume that just because there’s agreement between the parties that she will go along. She wants to be the decision-maker of everything."
Notably, she is known for being a harsh sentencing judge and for being hard on defendants, according to defense lawyers who talked with CNN. However, she has given Trump a lengthy leash on the issue of sensitive information, which has not gone unnoticed.
