WASHINGTON, DC: A clip of HBO’s ‘Veep’ has been doing rounds on the internet for its shocking similarity between the fiction and the current real status of US politics.

President Joe Biden announced that he won’t be rerunning for the White House in the November election. He also endorsed his Vice President Kamala Harris as the next commander-in-chief.

Joe Biden drops out of Presidential race

The Democratic leader said in a statement, “While it has been my intention to seek reelection, I believe it is in the best interest of my party and the country for me to stand down and to focus solely on fulfilling my duties as President for the remainder of my term.”

He continued, “My very first decision as the party nominee in 2020 was to pick Kamala Harris as my Vice President. And it’s been the best decision I’ve made.”

“Today I want to offer my full support and endorsement for Kamala to be the nominee of our party this year. Democrats — it’s time to come together and beat Trump. Let’s do this,” POTUS added.

Internet draws parallels between Julia Louis-Dreyfus’ character and Kamala Harris

However, soon after the news came out, netizens began sharing a scene from ‘Veep’ that showed Julia Louis-Dreyfus as ambitious politician Selina Meyer, who played the VP, telling her team members, “I'm not leaving. POTUS is leaving.”



 

“He's not going to run for a second term. I'm gonna run. I'm gonna run for president!” Louis-Dreyfus’ character, who later becomes the POTUS in the show, added.

One of her team members then said, as reported by Daily Mail, “I did not see that coming.”

Another one stated, “Leader Meyer, team Veep on fire!”

“Let's go to the f*****g moon!” the third one added.

Internet says ‘Veep’ went from being a sitcom to reality

Several people reacted to the scene from the Emmy-award-winning series as an X user shared, “This was so much more hysterical when it wasn’t actually happening. #BidenDroppedOut #Veep.”



 



 

Another user wrote, “#veep challenges #TheSimpsons for exclusive right to claim ability to foresee/predict the future.”



 

The third user stated, “Veep is a documentary.”



 

“America truly a sitcom damn,” the fourth user remarked.



 

The fifth one tweeted, “Well I hope it turns out better for Kamala than it did for Selena.”



 

“I agree. And I have thought of VEEP often since the Trump era began,” a tweet read.



 

Another tweet was “The accuracy of Veep is way too scary at times!”



 

“It's scary how VEEP went from being a parody to reality,” a person on X added.
