Kamala Harris ripped as she attacks Donald Trump for taking away abortion rights at 2024 Essence Festival
NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA: Vice President Kamala Harris emphasized the risks of a second Trump administration during a moderated conversation at the Essence Festival in New Orleans rather than focusing on the concerns surrounding President Joe Biden's candidacy, as per CNN.
The 59-year-old urged Black voters to support the Biden-Harris ticket, saying, "This is probably the most significant election of our lifetime."
Harris reiterated that Donald Trump has "openly" expressed "his intention to be a dictator from Day One" if reelected during the Saturday, July 6 event.
The Biden campaign is working to re-energize the coalition that played a crucial role in securing the presidency in 2020 as it seeks to maintain its support from Black voters.
According to CNN exit polls, Biden received 87% of the Black vote in 2020, compared to Trump's 12%.
However, recent data suggests that the former president has been able to gain support from this important voting bloc.
A New York Times/Siena College survey of battleground states revealed that Trump could win over 20% of Black voters in a head-to-head contest with Biden, potentially setting a historic record come November.
Vice President Harris encouraged festival attendees to believe that "we can see it through" once again by voting in record numbers.
"People voted in record numbers in 2020. This is what was able to happen, and when everyone votes in those numbers again in 122 days, we can see it through," stated Harris.

Harris further said, "We are looking an election that will take place in 122 days, where on one side you have the former president who is running to become president again, who has openly talked about his admiration of dictators, and his intention to be a dictator on Day One, who has openly talked about his intention to weaponize the Department of Justice against his political enemies, who has talked about being proud of taking from the women of America the most fundamental right about making decisions about your own body."
"Understand that the former president who is up for reelection has said he is proud of what has happened, proud of the fact that our daughters will have fewer rights than their grandmothers," added the vice president.
Despite Harris staying on course with the Democratic Party's talking points against Trump, the sitting POTUS' mental fitness and the viability of his reelection campaign have been causing concerns within his own party.
Following Biden’s underwhelming performance in the recent CNN presidential debate, some Democrats have encouraged the president to reassess his reelection bid, with others even suggesting that he should step down.
Despite this apparent setback, Biden has remained steadfast, unequivocally stating in his Wisconsin rally that he’s "completely ruling out" exiting the race.
If Biden were to step aside, many see Harris as a natural replacement, especially after a recent CNN poll showed that she would outperform the president in a hypothetical race against Trump.
On the contrary, some Republicans are against the idea of a Harris presidency, believing that Trump would have a better chance against Biden.
Nevertheless, Harris has consistently defended Biden, including, in the New Orleans event, where she evaded questions regarding the mounting concerns within her party. At the same time, other Biden supporters present took the issue head-on by expressing their unwavering support for him.
Attendees at the festival expressed the belief that Vice President Harris is ready to step in if President Biden were to step down, and that ultimately, voters intend to support the Democratic nominee in November.
Rep Joyce Beatty contended that Biden shouldn’t drop out of the race simply because of one debate. The Ohio Democrat remarked, "We’ve all had a bad day. Don’t go out there turning your back on this president."
California Rep Maxine Waters asserted, "Biden is not going anywhere." When pressed on whether she would back Harris, a fellow California Democrat, if the president were to withdraw from the race, Waters said, "We’re focused on Biden. We’re focused on the fact that not only has he done a good job, that we anticipate that he’s going to continue."

Netizens were quick to criticize Harris for once again targeting Trump on reproductive rights.
One claimed, "Always accusing others of what they're doing," and another said, "The usual liberal projection propaganda tactic."
"Trump himself has said many times, his administration’s success will be his revenge. I don’t know about all of you but 4 years ago today we were in a much better place," remarked an individual.
A person stated, "She doesn't look worried. But she does look like she's lying," while someone else added, "Please just go away... far far away... possibly to another planet."
One more slammed Harris, writing, "Projection is a thing."
