LONDON, UK: Kate Middleton may take longer to resume her public duties as she goes through her cancer treatment.

“No one wants to put any pressure [on Middleton]. The only thing that matters at the moment is her getting better. She has been through an ordeal this year," royal expert Richard Eden told Daily Mail.

“What this means in practice is that big decisions, such as the appointment of new staff, can wait,” he said on Thursday, May 23.

Kate Middleton is going through her cancer treatment

Back in March 2024, the Princess of Wales shared her diagnosis over Instagram, revealing that after a successful abdominal surgery, the disease was found in her system.

“This of course came as a huge shock, and William and I have been doing everything we can to process and manage this privately for the sake of our young family,” said Middleton in her video.

“We hope that you’ll understand that as a family, we now need some time, space, and privacy while I complete my treatment. … My work has always brought me a deep sense of joy, and I look forward to being back when I’m able. But for now, I must focus on making a full recovery,” she added at the time.

Meanwhile, Eden looked closely at Middleton's decision to stay away from her admirers, “It’s a reflection of Her Royal Highness’s importance to the future of the Monarchy that she has been given as much time as she needs.”

"She has not undertaken any public engagements this year and friends I spoke to in the past few days suggest we might not see Catherine again until the autumn – and only then if she has recovered fully," he added.

"As Sovereign, His Majesty is in a very different position from the Princess of Wales. There is no need for her to be seen while she’s recovering,” Eden continued.

Internet wishes Kate Middleton a 'quick recovery' amid cancer battle

Netizens wished Middleton a full recovery from cancer as she continues with her chemotherapy.

A user wrote, "What matters is that Kate has time and space to deal with what she is going through and to be well again. We all care about her and look forward to seeing her again when and only when she is ready."

The second shared, "It is not shocking or surprising that she can do some of her work from home while undergoing preventive chemotherapy in which public exposure would compromise her immune system more while experiencing chemotherapy."

"I really feel for her and the children," a concerned fan wrote.

Another said, "I pray calm, comfort, and peace for Princess Kate. It’s been a turbulent set of years for her and her family. My wish is for a full recovery away from stress and negativity."

"Chemo takes a toll on your physical appearance. Let Catherine decide when she's ready to seen in public again. Wishing get all the best and a quick recovery. I miss seeing her out and about," a user agreed.

One reasoned, "The King has likely been having radiotherapy or tablet dose chemo so hasn't had too much outward change to his appearance."
