Kimberlee Singler: Colorado woman wanted by police on charges of murder, attempted murder of her children
COLORADO SPRINGS, COLORADO: In a harrowing turn of events, Colorado Springs authorities are on the hunt for Kimberlee Singler for the killing of two of her children.
The 35-year-old is also accused of injuring a third child, an 11-year-old daughter, reports People.
What are the charges against Kimberlee Singler?
According to a press release issued by the Colorado Springs Police Department, Singler who was last seen on Saturday, December 23 has been charged with murder, attempted murder, and child abuse.
Singler was accused of murdering two of her children, a nine-year-old daughter and a seven-year-old son. An arrest warrant for her has since been issued.
She is currently being sought on one count of assault in the first degree, two counts of attempted first-degree murder, three counts of child abuse, and four counts of first-degree murder.
What led to the murder of Kimberlee Singler's children?
Following a 911 call reporting burglary report, authorities responded to the scene at 12.29 am on December 19. After authorities arrived on the scene, police found Singler's two children "deceased in the residence."
Singler and her 11-year-old daughter had sustained injuries, as per CSPD. The nature of their injuries have not been specified. However, the department stated that they both "were treated for their injuries on the scene by the Colorado Springs Fire Department and American Medical Response prior to being transported to local hospitals for further medical treatment."
Authorities confirmed to the outlet that Singler's 11-year-old child is currently "recovering well and is safe and accounted for here in the Colorado Springs area."
The Colorado Springs Police Department Homicide Unit has "assumed the investigation" after they responded to the call, as per the release. Law enforcement stated that further investigation into the case helped them determine that the "initial report of a burglary was unfounded."
After the arrest warrant for Singler was obtained on December 26, CSPD authorities have been searching for her. Current whereabouts of Singler who was reportedly last seen on December 23 are unknown, according to police.
Speaking to The New York Times, Ira Cronin, a spokesman for the Police Department said they had "reason to believe" Singler is no longer in Colorado. The outlet also reported that FBI is "assisting in the search."
The press release stated that the courts have set a bond amount of $10 million with the remaining "details of the arrest warrant are currently sealed under court order."
