FRANKLIN, LOUISIANA: Kimmy Dauntain Jr, 17, who is facing charges of attempted first-degree murder, attempted second-degree murder, accessory after the fact, simple battery, and illegal possession of a handgun, recently managed to escape custody from the Office of Juvenile Justice in Louisiana.

The incident occurred while he was being escorted to a relative’s funeral on Friday, February 2, as confirmed by the St Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office, according to Fox News

Dauntain Jr's parents played a pivotal role in his recapture as they were the ones to hand him over to the Louisiana State authorities on Sunday after a three-day manhunt. 

A Facebook update from the St Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office read, "Dauntain was located and is back in custody." 

The escapee now faces additional consequences for his attempted escape.

Dauntain Jr's escape from custody gained attention in light of recent incidents involving inmates briefly evading custody.

Notably, two Arkansas inmates, Noah Roush, 22, and Jatonia Bryant, 23, escaped from the Dub Brassell Adult Detention Center in Pine Bluff on January 22, as per FOX.

"They were able to get out through the shower area by making a hole through the ceiling and then once making their way through that hole, they made a hole in the roof of our facility and got out through there," said Maj John Bean regarding the incident. 

Roush faces charges related to residential burglary and theft of property, with suspicions of involvement in a homicide, while Bryant was held on probable cause for capital murder.

They were captured a few days after the escape.

In another incident, Shane Pryor, 17, a murder suspect, who was uncuffed and accompanied by two prison staff members, orchestrated a daring escape, managing to flee custody while exiting from a vehicle from an emergency room parking lot at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia on January 24.

US Marshals were reportedly successful in apprehending Pryor after a five-day manhunt.
