EMERY COUNTY, UTAH: Kirsten Beagley, 18, from Utah, died in a tragic accident while she was on a tubing adventure with her friends on Saturday, January 21, for a school dance.

Beagly was at a popular sledding hill at the Cleveland Reservoir area of Huntington Canyon when her tube went onto the road.

How did Kirsten Beagley die? 

Emery County Sheriff's Office, according to FOX 13, said, "Beagely who was on a tube with a friend and was going too fast to stop at the bottom of the hill."

While the friend rolled off the tube onto a snowy hillside, Beagley stayed on the tube "as it launched over the snowy berm on the shoulder of State Route 31 and came to a rest on the road," officials said.

“It was nothing that they did wrong or anything. They’re just tubing down that hill and went too fast and went over the first snowbank and onto the asphalt,” Sheriff Tyson Huntington told KSL TV.

Beagley was pronounced dead at the scene and was believed to have died of a neck or head injury.



 

Family left heartbroken as they mourn the loss of Kirsten Beagley 

Kirsten was with a group of four couples. All of them were on a group date for Emery High School’s winter formal scheduled to take place on Saturday, January 27.

“Just to see her for a minute, on Saturday morning. And then it’s just, it’s kind of hard to grasp [that she’s gone],” said Clarrissa Beagley, her sister.

"Kirsten was a friend to everyone," the family told the station. "She loved spending time with her family and her friends. She was always ready to go on an adventure," Beagley’s sister said.

Beagley was also passionate about dance. "Kirsten would light up any room she walked into. She was kind, compassionate, and the best listener," the family said.

“It’s heart-wrenching. Nothing prepares you for something like this,” Kyle Beagley, Kirsten’s father said.

“I think the word is just heartbroken. That’s what I’ve heard a lot of people say that their hearts are broken, and that’s, that’s what we feel right now,” Janell Beagley, Kirsten’s mother said.

The loss of Kirsten Beagley is sad for all involved 

On a GoFundMe page which has raised over $17,000, the family said, Beagley was "on one of the trips down the mountain her tube hit a large bump and she flew off and hit the road base below."

"She was knocked unconscious and was most likely killed on impact as she never woke up," the family added.

"Kirsten was a vibrant and cherished young soul who brought joy to everyone around her. Her sudden departure has left all of us heartbroken," it added.

Paige Davis, the cousin of Janell and Kyle Beagley, wrote, "We are all so devastated," adding, "The loss is so sad for all involved."
