NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: During a White House meeting last week, National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan observed the absence of Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin. In his place, Sasha Baker, a senior Pentagon official, represented the Defense Secretary.

It was later revealed that Austin was hospitalized at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center due to complications from an undisclosed surgical procedure.

Following this news, Fox News host Laura Ingraham took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to share this with her followers and took a brutal jab at Austin.

However, Ingraham faced severe backlash from many X users.

Laura Ingraham says Lloyd Austin should be ‘fired’

Fox News host Laura Ingraham took to X and wrote, “Austin must be fired.”

Ingraham’s tweet presented an article from Politico titled, "The Lloyd Austin fallout is growing: ‘Someone’s head has to roll’.”

In the article, it was stated that during a White House meeting last week, National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan observed the absence of Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, with Sasha Baker, a top Pentagon official, standing in for him.

At the time, there was no apparent cause for concern, as Austin had been scheduled to work from home, and it is common for lower-level aides to represent their superiors in such circumstances.

However, neither Sullivan nor Baker were aware that Austin was already hospitalized at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center due to complications from an undisclosed surgical procedure.

In the days following, Austin's undisclosed hospitalization has evolved into a developing situation affecting the upper levels of the Biden administration.

Senior White House officials are grappling with questions about who was informed and when regarding the former general's medical emergency. Criticism is mounting from both Congress and the media.

Since the Pentagon made the situation public on Friday night, January 5, new revelations are emerging, including a report from Politico on Saturday evening indicating that the Pentagon had not notified President Joe Biden or the National Security Council for days about Austin's health condition.

On New Year’s Eve, it was revealed to Fox News that Austin underwent an elective medical procedure at Walter Reed on December 22, 2023.

At the time of the procedure, Austin was on leave and returned home the next day.

However, on January 1, he began experiencing "severe pain" and was subsequently re-admitted to Walter Reed, where he was placed in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). According to John Kirby, Pentagon press secretary, Austin was admitted to the ICU to ensure immediate access to his medical needs.

Additionally, privacy concerns and hospital space considerations contributed to his continued stay in the ICU.

Internet slams Laura Ingraham

Many X users took a brutal jab at Laura Ingraham for calling out Llyod Austin.

One person wrote, “You can ask for a resignation due to health reasons, but fired? That's a stretch."

Another added, “Fact check: Laura is gaslighting and not telling the whole story.”

An X user simply called out Ingraham saying, “Laura you didn't hire him so you can not fire him! You don't have the power to make those decisions!”

Another said, “Oh, just be quiet.”

One more mocked Ingraham, “Every week with you, it’s fire someone new."

Another wrote, “I vote for you to be fired!”
