Linda Nolan makes candid confession as she shares heartbreaking update on her cancer battle
DUBLIN, IRELAND: Linda Nolan has been trying everything to keep herself up and happy amid her cancer battle.
During a recent interview with Woman magazine, the Irish singer made a candid confession while sharing a heartbreaking update on her declining health. She said, "I can’t wait [for Christmas]. Not to be morbid, but I didn’t think I’d make Christmas, so it’s a real bonus," as per The Mirror.
Nolan was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2005 and went into remission the following year. But it came back in 2017 and spread to her brain, bones, and liver.
Linda Nolan hopes she is there to celebrate Christmas next year
While speaking to Woman magazine, the 65-year-old further shared, "We love Christmas as a family and we’re all going to gather at [sister] Denise’s. It will be great. We all have such a good time when we get together so I can’t wait. I especially love seeing all the little ones and how excited they get."
The sister of ‘Loose Women’ panelist Coleen Nolan also mentioned that her biggest wish for this year’s festival is to be able to be "here to see everybody next year as well."
Regarding her current treatment plan, she shared, "I'm having chemo once every three week. I have my bloods taken after each time and if they're OK, I have the next round. You have to be careful with chemo. I've lost my hair again - I'm bald for the fifth time and it still gets to me each time."
"I'm distraught when it goes. Pain-wise I get a cramp in my leg which really hurts, but apart from that there's no pain, which is good," added Nolan.
Linda Nolan says 'if you lose hope, you lose everything'
Despite the challenges, Linda Nolan has vowed to remain positive as she told the magazine, "I’ve been fighting this since 2005 and I always put up a fight – you can’t not. When I was 60 I had a big party, and I said, 'Well, hopefully I’ll be here next year.'"
"And here I am, I’ll be 66 in February. I think if you lose hope, you lose everything. It’s hard sometimes, but you’ve gotta have the stamina to go, 'Yeah, I’m not going to lie in bed feeling sorry for myself,'" she asserted.
The member of 'The Nolans' group also shared why it is important to keep oneself "busy."
"Even if it is sitting outside in your garden in this cold weather, getting some fresh air always makes you feel better," she noted.
Linda Nolan was distraught after knowing her cancer had spread
Earlier in August, Linda Nolan disclosed that the cancerous tumors in her brain had spread as treatment did not benefit her.
Nolan told The Mirror, "I sobbed when my consultant first told me. I know so many people are suffering and going through things, but I thought, just for once, could cancer just leave me alone? My heart sank."
"I had feared something was wrong. My balance has been getting worse and my memory - my sisters have to prompt me when I get lost in the middle of a sentence," she added.
