LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: The late Lisa Marie Presley got a matching tattoo with her dead son Benjamin Keough after his death in July 2020.

Lisa Marie’s daughter, and Benjamin’s sister, Riley Keough reflected on her family’s tragedy after appearing in a special interview with Oprah Winfrey on Tuesday, October 8, titled ‘An Oprah Special: The Presleys - Elvis, Lisa Marie And Riley’.

Keough’s revelations about her mother came in the middle of the posthumous release of Lisa Marie’s memoir ‘From Here to the Great Unknown’, in which Elvis Presley’s daughter had been working before her death in January 2023. Following her death, the book was published on October 8 after Keough finished it.

In the book, Lisa Marie previously opened up about preserving her son’s dead body in dry ice for two months after his suicide in July 2020.

However, that was not the only grieving process the ‘Storm & Grace’ songstress went through.

Talking to Oprah, Keough revealed that Lisa Marie not only got the matching tattoo but also showed the preserved remains to the tattoo artist to get inspiration from.

Keough shared, “On paper, I can see how this sounds completely insane and absurd but my mom was just very much herself ... she wasn't a crazy lady - she was just herself,” per Daily Mail.

The ‘Daisy Jones & The Six’ actress continued to narrate her experience, “And this was just a moment where she wanted to get his name - she wanted to get a matching tattoo with him on her hand. And the tattoo artist was there ... at my house.”

The actress, and the heir of Graceland, shared that her mother “really wanted the placement” of the tattoos “to be exactly right.”

She recalled that when the tattoo artist asked whether she had a photograph for reference, Lisa Marie went to show the placement of the design using the body.

Keough recalled, “He's like, 'Okay, do you have any photos?' Kind of a thing. And she was, like, 'No - but I can show you.'”

She continued, “And I was just sitting there, like, this is ... I stayed quiet because it's my mom,” and explained, “And she - she does what she wants. But it was definitely one of the most, like, absurd moments.”

The actress continued that her mother told the tattoo artist, “My son is here, you know, in the back room. I can show you,” and took him to the guest room of her Los Angeles mansion where Benjamin was kept.

While Keough was taken aback by the episode, she shared that the tattooist “was very normal about the whole thing.”

The ‘Under the Bridge’ star shared, “And then when he left I was, like, 'Do you know how crazy that was what you just did?'"

Lisa Marie Presley revealed why she kept her son’s dead body in the memoir

Though her macabre way of grieving may appear controversial, Lisa Marie defended her stance in the memoir, writing, “There is no law in the state of California that you have to bury someone immediately,” reports People.

She further reflected that having her father’s body at Graceland after his death in 1977 helped her cope with the grief.

She wrote, “Having my dad in the house after he died was incredibly helpful because I could go and spend time with him and talk to him.”

Keough further explained in the memoir that replicating the same process for her son, Lisa Marie was trying to come to terms with the loss.

Finally, Benjamin was laid to rest in the Graceland property near his grandfather Elvis Presley's resting place. Lisa Marie was also laid to rest near her loved ones after her death in January 2023.
