'Living legend': Internet hails Cher for her sporting spirit as she gets down and dirty with Jimmy Fallon

MANHATTAN, NEW YORK CITY: It's safe to say that unpredictability is Cher's forte! Who would've thought that Cher, the Goddess of Pop, would be sporting a fake mustache and engaging in a saliva-sprinkled sketch with Jimmy Fallon on 'The Tonight Show'?

The unexpected surprise added a unique and humorous twist to the show's "Point Pleasant Police Department" sketch, showcasing Cher's willingness to embrace the unexpected and share a few laughs with Fallon, even if it involves spitting donut pieces.

 A dramatic scene filled with 'P' words

The clip, released on December 8, opens with Fallon engaging with the audience before the unexpected arrival of the 'DJ Play A Christmas Song' singer.

She remarked, "You guys probably don’t know this, but he and I were actually on a show together".

Further setting the stage for the gross-out sketch, she commented, "This sounds like it’s a joke, but this was very serious. It was a serious show!”

“It took place in lovely Point Pleasant, New Jersey,” Fallon added. “We played two detectives who couldn’t see eye-to-eye. We’d get into a lot of arguments… The two cops get pretty heated and always seem to end up in messy situations.”

The duo then donned police uniforms, taking a trip down the memory lane with Fallon and Cher revisiting many '80s police drama..

Complete with fake mustaches, they hilariously engaged in a messy exchange of donut crumbs and coffee while delivering a series of 'P'-filled sentences.

Fallon seemed to bear the brunt of his coffee carnage away from Cher, but the Grammy-winner had no reservations about playfully spraying the host directly in the face with a mouthful of coffee.

As Fallon pleaded for a pause with his hat askew, he teasingly offered Cher a new twist in the form of oatmeal.

While Fallon adhered to the script and let bits of food fly with each punctuated consonant, Cher took a more direct approach, opting to spit the food directly at Fallon.

Fans call Cher 'truly a living legend'

Fallon and Cher's reprisal of the Point Pleasant Police Department sketch garnered quite the reaction from the internet.

When they eventually returned to their seats, adorned in an array of festive treats, both Fallon and Cher looked delightfully disheveled.
