LOUISVILLE, KENTUCKY: The Internet was filled with prayers after a clip of a driver being rescued from a semi-truck suspended on the Clark Memorial Bridge in Kentucky went viral.

According to Fox News, the horrific crash was reported by the local authorities at 12.15 local time. While recounting the incident, it was revealed that the truck was on its way, moving northbound on the bridge, when it seemingly crossed the lane and collided with the bridge's guardrail, smashing through it.

Driver rescued from suspended trailer of a semi-truck

Fox News reported that a frightening scene unfolded on the Clark Memorial Bridge in Kentucky, which spans the Ohio River, where Louisville first responders rushed to the scene of a crash.

A video circulating online captured the intense moment when a first responder descended from a ladder to lift the trapped driver to safety.

The truck's trailer was jammed against the bridge's beams, preventing it from plunging into the river below. Additionally, the truck's hood popped open and hung from the cab, adding to the dramatic scene.

The incident occurred when an unidentified driver was traveling northbound on the bridge around noon on Friday, March 1. The Sysco truck shifted lanes and crashed through the barrier, as reported by WLKY.

Firefighter Bryce Carden bravely roped to rescue the female driver trapped in the suspended cab. Fire Chief Brian O'Neill described the rescue as a "once-in-a-career" event, which took about 40 minutes, according to the New York Post.

Chief O'Neill commended the driver for her bravery during the rescue, noting that she remained composed throughout. He stated, "She held it together amazingly. She held it together like a champ, but I will tell you once she hit solid ground, she let those emotions go."

As reported by the New York Post, firefighter Carden shared that he and the driver remained calm during the rescue. He said, “She was just praying, she was praying a lot, and I was praying with her."

"At the moment, you don’t think about it, after the debrief, it hits you. At the run, the training takes over.”

The semi-truck was in an alarming position, prompting concerns that it could shift at any moment. Firefighters maintained communication with the shaken driver, who fortunately remained in a stable condition and was taken to the hospital as a precaution.

Chief O'Neill revealed that two other vehicles were involved in the crash and were in a bad shape.

The bridge was subsequently closed in both directions as responders worked to address the situation.

According to Fox News, Sysco expressed gratitude toward the first responders stating, "Sysco is enormously grateful to rescue services and law enforcement who quickly and safely resolved the accident on the Clark Memorial Bridge today."

"We are thankful our Sysco colleague is safe and thank the first responders for their courageous efforts rescuing our driver. Safety is a priority at Sysco, and we are cooperating with the law enforcement investigation."
