BRONX, NEW YORK CITY: At the intersection of 157th Street, Lourdes Camilo, aged 53, lost her life after being struck by the initial vehicle. The impact propelled her into a second SUV traveling in the opposite direction, and she was later pronounced dead at the scene.

Following the tragic throw, she was observed lifeless on the street and pronounced dead. Notably, she has been identified as the mother of four as per dailymail.

In the aftermath of this heartbreaking incident, Camilo's family and neighbors have opened up about her nature, causing emotional distress among them following her demise.

What happened in Bronx street?

As per the NYPD, Lourdes Camilo was struck by the initial vehicle, a white Jeep, at approximately 7:10 p.m. Subsequently, she was propelled into the air and collided with a second Jeep, which was traveling in the opposite direction at a significant speed.

Following the impact, the first car swiftly departed the scene, leaving Camilo fatally injured on the street. The second vehicle was driven by a 53-year-old male.

As of the evening of January 14, the search for the driver of the white Grand Cherokee is still ongoing, as confirmed by the police.

What did relatives and neighbors claim?

Camilo's mother, among several relatives who arrived at the scene before her removal, expressed, "The whole family felt a lot about her. She called everyone her friend," as translated from Spanish.

Another individual, who preferred not to be named, added, "She was very special, always with a smile even if she had a problem."

Luis Morales, Camilo’s 80-year-old neighbor, remarked, “She was a very nice girl. Every time I saw her, she would say, 'Good morning, sir. How are you? Have a good day.'"

Morales was stunned to hear about how she died, emphasizing that she was always "very careful" when crossing the street. He said, “I can’t believe it” and detailed the moment when Camilo’s family found out about the fatal incident, revealing that he could hear their anguish from next door.

“I heard the crying, banging on the walls, yelling,” he recounted, adding that Camilo had four kids and worked as a Starbucks manager in Manhattan.

Contrary to neighbors' claims, the driver of the second vehicle, photographed by the news, has not been charged as of January 14.

He cooperated with the police at a chaotic scene on Saturday night, where many presumed to be Camilo’s family were seen being restrained by the police as the victim lay covered in the street.

Cops have not mentioned whether they have been able to retrieve a license plate, and as of now, no arrests have been made, and the officers' investigation remains ongoing.
