MIAMI, FLORIDA: Family and friends remember Meghan Moore, 25 who was killed along with her roommate Sidney Capolino, 23 in a Miami apartment by Luis Napoles in a double murder-suicide on March 17.

Meghan Moore’s mother Marybeth Moore says her daughter was a star

Moore and Capolino were former college ice hockey teammates as mentioned in their student-athlete biographies on the New England College athletics website.

Moore graduated in 2021 and Capolino in 2022. Moore was a forward on the school’s NCAA Division III team for three years while Capolino played defence for four seasons.

Marybeth remembered Moore as a hockey star in her hometown Telling NBC 10, "We just couldn't wait to get to her games. She was just electrifying and amazing," Marybeth told NBC 10, adding, "Always had a huge smile on, twinkly eyes, loved everybody."

"Two families that have lost their light, and our lives will never be the same again," Marybeth further shared.

 


             

 

Luis Napoles was not Meghan Moore’s boyfriend, long-term friend insists

Moore studied criminal justice at New England College. Her friend Caroline Spalt, with whom she constantly talked, insisted that Luis Napoles and Meghan Moore were not boyfriend and girlfriend.

“Every night we'd Facetime for like two hours when she was down in Miami and I was up in Jupiter,” Caroline Spalt told the publication stressing she wants the word to know her story the right way.

Spalt mentioned that Napoles was known to Moore through her former employment and were acquaintances. While authorities have indicated that Napoles and Moore were involved romantically, both Spalt and Moore's family refute the claim of any romantic involvement.

“They were not boyfriend and girlfriend. I know that you know, a ton of our articles are saying that that's in the headlines"Spalt said. "That's completely false. And, you know, I am 1,000% sure. I think I know I talk to her every day." she added.

Meghan Moore's college teammate says she was funny and special

Moore's former college teammate Tara Rooney told the Miami Herald that her friend's death would "forever change her."

"To know her is to love her, she was without a doubt the funniest person I have ever met without even trying," Rooney said.

She added, "Having someone like her in my life was super special because without Meg I wouldn’t have her amazing family in my life," she said, adding, "her amazing best friends from Cape I now get to call my best friends, and I surely wouldn’t have had as many laughs."

Police found Meghan Moore critically injured near the apparent door before more shots rang from inside The New York Post reported that Miami-Dade Police responded to an apartment complex in Coral Gables at 9 am on Sunday evening, March 17.

Moore from Centerville, Massachusetts, was found outside the apartment door with a gunshot wound. As police attempted to save her, they heard more shots from inside the apartment.

On entering the residence, police found both Capolino from Pawling, New York, and Napoles, a restaurant worker dead from gunshot wounds. All three were later pronounced dead at the scene.

The motive behind the killings is yet to be released by the police. The trio lived together at the Windsor Ludlam Trail Apartments.

A friend of Moore previously revealed to the New York Post that Moore and Napoles had a troubled relationship. "You could tell that there were some issues there. But not to this point. We can’t believe this happened," the college friend said. Capolino had recently received her registered nurse certification in Florida on February 9. Moore, on the other hand, studied criminal justice at New England College.
