MAGAs called 'desperate' as they credit 'Trump effect' for Victoria Kjaer Theilvig's Miss Universe win

MEXICO CITY, MEXICO: Many MAGA supporters have credited the "Trump effect" to Denmark contestant Victoria Kjaer Theilvig's Miss Universe 2024 win. 

The 21-year-old won the 73rd annual pageant on Saturday, November 16, by defeating more than 120 contestants for the title in Mexico City, Mexico. This comes almost a year after the competition faced criticism for featuring married, plus-sized, and transgender contestants, as per Marca.

After Victoria Kjaer Theilvig won the title, Ian Miles Cheong, co-host of the 'Other View Podcast' took to X (formerly Twitter) to write, "This is Miss Denmark, who was just crowned Miss Universe. It’s the Trump Effect in action. Had Kamala won, the prize would’ve gone to a 40 year old transgender."

In another post, Cheong shared, "Miss Denmark is the new Miss Universe. Probably the first blonde, blue eyed white girl to win in ages. And she doesn’t have a d**g. It’s the Trump Effect."

Oli London, a controversial internet personality, wrote in his post, "Wokeness is officially over. This is the new Miss Universe." He also went on to share a post by the president-elect's eldest son, Donald Trump Jr, which read, "Biological & objectively attractive women are allowed to win beauty pageants again. WE ARE SO BACK!!!"

Another Trump supporter expressed, "Miss Universe winner, the stunning Miss Denmark An actual woman!! The effects of the Trump win already showing," while one more added, "The Trump effect continues to roll through the planet. The final two at yesterday’s Miss Universe: incredibly beautiful and feminine woman, neither has a penis. We’re back."

Moreover, Elon Musk, the owner of X and a Trump ally, shared an image that read, "Breaking: Internet stunned after an attractive biologic female human of healthy weight wins Miss Universe pageant."

Internet trolls MAGA supporters for their 'Trump effect' posts

Netizens were quick to mock MAGA supporters as they credited the "Trump effect" for Victoria Kjaer Theilvig's Miss Universe 2024 win.

Some online comments read, "Desperate trumpeters," and "Lol - the 'Trump Effect'?! What on Earth has he got to do with this? It might be sunny tomorrow - ahh, it must be the old Trump Effect...."

A person stated, "This is the dumbest thing I have heard today LOL, A WOMAN HAS ALWAYS WON MISS UNIVERSE! When did they not?"

"I think that the contestant with the best answer actually won! This contest was not rigged," expressed one more, while another person commented, "A blonde hair and blue-eyed woman is your typical beauty from the TEXAN EFFECT. Trump, what a joke." 

Miss Universe 2024 Victoria Kjaer Theilvig started competing in pageants when she was five

Victoria Kjaer Theilvig, who was crowned Miss Universe 2024, is an animal protection advocate who works in the diamond-selling business. It is the first time a Danish contestant has won the title.

Theilvig, who was second runner-up at Miss Denmark 2021, grew up in Copenhagen and has a Bachelor's degree in business and marketing. The Miss Universe 2024 has also worked as a professional dancer and dance teacher, according to Business Insider.

Theilvig revealed in a video for Miss Universe that she started competing in pageants when she was five years old. She said, "I have always watched the Miss Universe competition and other major international pageants. So, as soon as I turned 17, I joined the Miss Denmark competition."

The finals began with 131 mariachi musicians and singer Taboo of the Black Eyed Peas playing 'Mexicana', a song that was created by Emilio Estefan for the contest. It was hosted by Mario Lopez, Olivia Culpo, Miss Universe 2012, presenter Zuri Hall, and Catriona Gray, Miss Universe 2018, according to CBS News.

Miss Nicaragua Sheynnis Palacios was the winner of Miss Universe 2023 and was the first to wear the crown from her country.
