Marcel Lapensee and Samantha Osborne have been accused of murdering Kerwin who has been reported missing. Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) said that they are looking for other potential victims of the suspects.

What happened to Rose Kerwin?

The body of Rose Kerwin was found in the Mississippi River near Pakenham in Ontario on November 12, 2023, Detective Inspector Jennifer Patton of the Ontario Provincial Police informed in a video posted to X, formerly known as Twitter.

Jennifer Patton noted that officers received a separate report of a sexual assault in Carlton Place, a few days later of the incident on November 15, 2023, which led them to suspects Marcel Lapensee and Samantha Osborne.

"As a result, [Lapensee and Obsorne] have been arrested and charged in connection with both investigations,” Patton said in the video.

"The investigation has revealed the accused both used aliases on social media, which include ‘Maxx Power’ and ‘Sammi'," she continued.

Officials continue their investigation

Patton did not inform how the police were able to connect the two cases but noted to the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) that those aliases were allegedly used on a dating site. Due to this finding, police say they are widening their search.

“We’re concerned there may be other victims,” said Patton in the same video. “We are asking anyone who may have interacted with the accused to contact police,” the cop added.

Both suspects have been arrested.

The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) reported that 56-year-old Lapensee, a resident of Carleton Place, and 23-year-old Osborne from Iroquois were arrested on charges of first-degree murder in connection with Kerwin’s death.

In connection with the second instance, the police informed the outlet that the two were also charged with sexual assault and forced incarceration. It's unclear if they have hired legal representation or pleaded guilty to the accusations.
