Maren Morris opens up on postpartum depression, says she was 'living in the negative' after giving birth
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Maren Morris candidly spoke about her postpartum depression and self-care on 'The Howard Stern Show' episode on Wednesday, December 13.
The 33-year-old singer talked about experiencing postpartum depression after she gave birth to her son Hayes who is now three years old.

Maren Morris says she 'felt useless' in her work
Speaking about her new hairstyle, Morris says, she "cut all the trauma out of" her hair. The host Howard Stern then asked her what trauma she had been referring to, the country singer said it was about her challenges and experience with depression.
"I think I was just starting to make very little sense to myself and to people around me," she said of her depression.

"I felt useless in the way of I couldn't work. I couldn't tour. Everything got cancelled," she said.
She further told the 69-year-old host that she had been finding it difficult to process her emotions, especially her identity.
"It's a tough one when you've done something for so long to not think that that's you, even though you love it and it makes you a living, that's not who you are," said Morris.
"So separating those things was helpful, getting on Zoloft was also really cool," she added.
Maren Morris reveals medication helped her cure depression
Morris shared with Stern that medication helped in lifting herself out of her depression.

"It's like you're living in the negative, the red, for a long time without realizing it. That your supply is so depleted of just serotonin, dopamine and a lot of that is just chemical," she said.
"And having the baby β and I had an emergency C-section β there were just a lot of things that didn't go to plan, but everyone's okay, everyone's healthy," she added.
"But the other side of that, which I've been vocal about, is that it's a lot on the mom and you love your baby, and you're obsessed with your baby," Morris continued.

"But oh my God your body has been through a violent thing and of course you're going to be affected emotionally, hormonally by it afterwards," she explained.
Maren Morris talks about her phase of identity crisis
In December 2022, Morris spoke on 'Today' about her struggle with postpartum and the 2020 quarantine following Covid-19 outbreak.
Morris explained her experience of how it felt to have a baby during the quarantine in 2020. "I think a lot of identity crises happened there," she said.

"Not just being a new parent and a new mother and dealing with postpartum depression for the first time, and reeling from that, and trying to like find the forest through the trees. But also just knowing my worth without someone clapping for me," the singer explained, according to People.
