WASHINGTON, DC: Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga) recently accused fellow Georgia Republican Rep Richard McCormick of getting "physically aggressive" with her during a November meeting with House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La).

The alleged incident occurred following the introduction of competing resolutions to censure Representative Rashida Tlaib, as reported by CNN.

Marjorie Taylor Greene's complaint and Richard McCormick's explanation

According to Greene, she lodged a complaint with Speaker Johnson, claiming that McCormick "grabbed her by the shoulders and shook her" after both lawmakers presented their resolutions.

McCormick, however, said, "I understand why there would be a lot of raw emotions following the censure vote given that her censure was tabled and mine passed. My intention was to encourage Rep Greene by making a friendly gesture."

He further noted, "I said to her, ‘At least we can have an honest discussion,’ to which she said she did not appreciate that. For that, I immediately apologized and have not spoken to her since."

The private meeting between Johnson and Greene was part of the new speaker's effort to manage rising tensions within the GOP conference. Johnson has also been in contact with McCormick, listening to his side of the story.

Notably, Greene's censure resolution against Tlaib accused her of "leading an insurrection at the United States Capitol," engaging in "antisemitic activity," and "sympathizing with terrorist organizations."

After McCormick introduced a narrower resolution, accusing Tlaib of promoting "false narratives" around the Hamas terror attack against Israel, Greene withdrew her resolution. McCormick's resolution ultimately passed with a vote of 234-188, with four members voting present.

Subsequently, Greene criticized McCormick, stating, "I think he got his ego bruised by all the callers and his own constituents."

She insisted that most people were unaware of McCormick's involvement and believed it was her resolution. "It’s not about Rich McCormick, nobody cares about Rich McCormick," stated Greene, continuing, "Most people have no idea that he’s even doing this, most people think it’s my resolution."

Moreover, in the aftermath of the failed resolution, Greene went on a tirade against Republicans who voted against it, specifically targeting her Colorado colleagues, Ken Buck and Lauren Boebert.

Internet slams Marjorie Taylor Greene over her accusations against Richard McCormick

Soon after Greene's accusations against Richard McCormick came to light, netizens were quick to bash her.

One wrote, "Anything for attention. Good or bad. She has to be front and center in the headlines," while another added, "Especially awkward since McCormick’s wife has donated to MTG."

Someone else stated, "Marjorie Taylor Greene’s staffers film her wherever she goes. Plus, there’s cameras everywhere in the Capitol. I will believe it when I see some video."

"Sounds like @RepMTG is a bit of a snowflake. What's the point of all that CrossFit if you can't throw a jab?" quipped a person, with one more chiming in, "She lives to stir the pot."

Rashida Tlaib defends her take on Hamas-Israel conflict

"My perspective is needed here now more than ever. I will not be silenced and I will not let you distort my words," said Tlaib, adding, "My criticism has always been of the Israeli government. The idea that criticizing the Israeli government is antisemitic sets a dangerous precedent," as per The Nation

She continued, "I can't believe I have to say this but Palestinian people are not disposable. We are human beings. Just like my grandmother, like all Palestinians, who just wants to live her life with the freedom and human dignity we all deserve."
