LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Late 'Friends' star Matthew Perry's ex-girlfriend revealed that she left the actor because she "couldn't watch him die," sharing a terrifying three-word text she used to send him daily.

Kayti Edwards, Perry's ex-girlfriend and former assistant, recently opened up about the actor's drug problem, revealing that she used to message him daily to check if he was still alive.

Kayti Edwards reveals she left him because she 'couldn't watch him die'

Following several arrests related to Matthew Perry's death, his ex-girlfriend and former aide, Kayti Edwards, has come forward to share the details of her heartbreaking breakup with the celebrity.

In an exclusive interview with The Mirror US, Edwards revealed that she witnessed Perry's addiction spiral out of control and personally experienced his daily struggle with the disease.

Edwards acknowledged that, despite growing close to him, there came a point when she was unable to work or maintain an intimate relationship with the troubled actor.

She revealed, "Matthew paid me very well as his assistant but there came a point for me that he got so bad that I had no choice but to walk away from that salary. But I knew that I could not watch him die. I would never, ever be able to live with myself."

Edwards continued, "There were so many sleepless nights that I would go home and I would wake up at four in the morning texting him, 'Are you alive? Are you alive? Just answer. Send me an emoji. Send me something that you are there.'"

"I couldn't sleep at night knowing what he was doing. And I think part of me stayed as long as I did, because if I didn't stay, he would have been alone, and he would have just kept going," she added.

Edwards eventually convinced Perry to check into a rehabilitation center in January 2011. She clarified, "I said, 'I'm not doing this anymore, Matthew. I'm sorry you’re going to hate me, but we are getting you into rehab.'"

In 2006, Edwards dated the 'Friends' actor and began working as his assistant in 2011. They remained friends until his death in October 2023 at the age of 54.

The 'Chandler Bing' actor was found dead and face down in his jacuzzi at his Los Angeles home on October 28.

Perry had struggled with ketamine addiction for some time, and his autopsy report indicated that he died from the "acute effects of ketamine," leading to his death being classified as an accident.

Kayti Edwards exposes group of doctors accused of illegally supplying drugs to Matthew Perry

Matthew Perry's ex-girlfriend, Kayti Edwards, made her statement following an investigation into the actor's death, which led to charges against five individuals, including Perry's live-in assistant, two doctors, and a woman known as "the ketamine queen."

She claimed that the '17 Again' actor was unlawfully supplied with medications by an extensive network of questionable doctors and nurses for over ten years.

The step-granddaughter of British actress Julie Andrews vividly recalled the unsettling moment when Perry menacingly confided in her, "I'm in with the doctors."

"There’s a whole network of people beyond those facing criminal charges who the police need to investigate. Detectives need only delve back into his medical history," Edwards said.

"There are so many more doctors who have been on his books over the years who will be terrified right now. Whenever he was in active addiction, he knew instantly where to turn. It’s a scandal."

Although her medication preferences had evolved over time, Edwards revealed that she maintained longstanding relationships with doctors.

"Ketamine was his new thing, but it all started with unscrupulous doctors oversubscribing prescription pills like Vicodin," she said.

She continued, "When the charges dropped, I knew they would be doctors…..because that was what he always did. I was not surprised. His addictive brain would think, ‘Well, it was prescribed from a doctor so I can take it.’ In his head, it wasn't like he was out on the street, scoring drugs."

Investigators revealed how doctor Salvador Plasencia and fellow medic Mark Chavez planned to give the actor a huge dose of ketamine. In their message, Plasencia said, "I wonder how much this moron will pay" and another stated, "Let's find out."

Kayti Edwards expresses her dismay at Matthew Perry's lack of attention

Furthermore, Kayti Edwards has expressed her discomfort with the "shady" circumstances surrounding the 'Friends' star's tragic death from overdose.

She added that there were significant doubts about the absence of drugs or other paraphernalia from the scene. "If you have given him a big shot, there would be a needle and evidence of ketamine in the house. Where did it all go?" Edwards questioned.

She continued, "Why did the assistant shoot him up with all those drugs and leave? I always stayed with Matthew if he was taking drugs as I didn’t want him to OD, or anything to happen. I could call 911. But why wasn’t his assistant there."

"It was just horrific that there was no duty of care," Edwards said, expressing her disbelief at the lack of attention given to Perry.

In a guilty plea, Perry's aide Kenneth Iwamasa admitted to "repeatedly injecting Perry with ketamine without medical training" and conspiring to distribute the ketamine that led to his death.

While Chavez, 54, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute ketamine, Iwamasa, 59, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute ketamine causing death.

Plasencia pleaded not guilty to accusations of conspiracy to distribute ketamine, seven counts of ketamine distribution, and two counts of falsifying documents during the investigation into Perry's death.
