Maxwell Anderson: Man charged with Sade Robinson's murder after missing woman's severed leg found in park
MILWAUKEE, WISCONSIN: The remains of a 19-year-old woman who had been reported missing on April 2 were discovered in a Cudahy park, according to charges submitted in a Wisconsin court this week.
According to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Maxwell S Anderson has been charged with murder for killing and dismembering Sade Carleena Robinson, whom he first met on April 1.
Maxwell Anderson faces several charges
A severed leg was discovered in a Cudahy park on April 2 afternoon, several miles away, and Sade Robinson's burned Honda Civic was discovered in Milwaukee at around 7:30 the following morning.
The following day, according to CrimeOnline, police stormed an apartment in southwest Milwaukee and declared they had detained a "person of interest" in connection with the body parts.
Maxwell, 33, was charged on Friday, April 12 with first-degree intentional homicide, mutilating a corpse, and arson after prosecutors connected the dots between the body parts, the burned car, the missing woman, and the "person of interest."
The Journal Sentinel reported that a $5 million bail was set for him. Sheena Scarbrough, Robinson's mother, expressed her anger following Friday's hearing.
“Who the f**k would do something like this to my beautiful baby?” she said. “She hurt nobody. She harmed nobody.”
She also expressed her hope that Maxwell suffers, calling him "a sick son of a b**ch."
Sade Robinson was reported missing after a date
More information was provided by a criminal complaint that was filed in the case, which referenced witness statements, cell phone records, and surveillance footage. When Robinson didn't show up for work on April 2 at approximately 9 pm, a friend reported her missing, and police visited her apartment.
They were informed by a building secretary that Robinson had expressed excitement about going on a date that evening the previous evening. Her cell phone records revealed that she was having dinner with someone at a restaurant at 5 o'clock in the evening.
The restaurant staff recognized her companion as Maxwell, a former worker. They went to a bar around 6:30 pm after dinner and, after 9 pm, to Robinson's house.
According to cell phone records, Robinson's phone traveled to downtown Milwaukee shortly before 1:00 am.
It then made its way to Cudahy's Warnimont Park, where the severed leg was discovered that afternoon and the phone was left until the battery ran out shortly after 4:30 am.
The complaint stated that until roughly 4:30 am, a Honda Civic was spotted in the park, and on camera, a "human figure" could be seen repeatedly going down a bluff and back to the car.
About two miles from Robinson's residence, the burning Civic was discovered three hours later. A few days afterward, they discovered what appeared to be the foot of the amputated leg in the same location.
Anderson was identified on camera and in witness accounts as the person who set fire to the Civic. According to the complaint, on April 2, at around 8:30 am, he took a bus from that location and arrived close to his house.
On April 4, Anderson's car was pulled over by Milwaukee County sheriff's deputies, who then arrested him.
Blood was discovered on Maxwell Anderson's bedding
At a press conference on Friday morning, police stated that they are still looking for more of Robinson's remains, according to CrimeOnline.
The authorities restricted themselves from commenting on the evidence found at Anderson's house, but according to the complaint submitted in the case, blood was discovered on the bedding and walls leading to the basement.
Assistant District Attorney Ian Vance-Curzan stated in court on Friday that it seemed Anderson went to "tremendous" measures to conceal Robinson's death. “It’s the highest level of violence imaginable,” he declared.
Anderson has been found guilty in three instances between 2014 and 2019 of disorderly conduct and domestic abuse, according to the Journal Sentinel.
