Meghan McCain threatens to sue ex 'The View' colleagues after being 'libeled' in Hunter Biden segment
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Meghan McCain has expressed anger and threatened action against her former co-hosts on 'The View' for implying that she unlawfully used her famous last name for professional or financial gain.
The controversy comes in the wake of Hunter Biden's federal tax case and its impact on President Joe Biden.
Meghan, 39, defended herself against remarks made by Ana Navarro on the show, highlighting the tension and disagreement on the show regarding personal and political matters.
McCain asserts she has 'never been accused of a crime' before
In a tweet, the columnist, and daughter of the late Senator John McCain, questioned, "I don’t understand why my former colleagues @TheView @ABC bring me up and slander me on an almost weekly basis".
Years after leaving the daytime talk show, McCain urged, "It has been years – move on, I have".

I have never been accused of a crime in my life and am a patriotic American - I would never and have never “influenced peddled”…
"I have never been accused of a crime in my life and am a patriotic American – I would never and have never 'influenced peddled' in my life, let alone with foreign adversaries. Not all politicians children are the same – and I am no Hunter Biden", she fired back.
She continued, “All accusations are absurd, defamatory and slanderous. I will be consulting my lawyers regarding what was libeled against me on ‘The View’ this morning.”
Earlier, co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin queried on 'The View', "Who at this table peddled on their last name?" Ana Navarro responded, "I'm not talking about currently," a remark widely interpreted as a reference to Meghan McCain.
Griffin added, "Look, did Hunter Biden influence-peddle on his last name?", accusing some colleagues, including one at the table, of doing the same.
On a live show, CNN commentator Ana Navarro, 51, asserted that Hunter Biden, 53, is not the sole individual in Washington engaged in "influence peddling" based on his last name. Navarro claimed "people sitting at this table did it".
'As if I had become an avatar for everything'
When questioned by Alyssa Farah Griffin about who specifically did it, Navarro clarified that she was not referring to anyone at the current table, implying that Meghan McCain had engaged in such behavior in the past, as per Radar Online.
Following the on-air exchange, Griffin lightened the mood by humorously stating, "We just wanted to clear our names," and Sara Haines jokingly questioned if she had a claim to fame she wasn't utilizing.
This bold statement left her co-hosts surprised, leading to a momentary pause in the debate.
Alyssa Farah Griffin sought clarification, prompting further discussion and exchange of views on the topic.
Meghan had a history of well-known clashes with her colleagues during her tenure on the show from 2017 to 2021, which may have contributed to the current dynamic.
McCain, the former ABC talk show host, has not yet responded to her ex-co-host Ana Navarro's statements on social media.
In October of that year, Meghan McCain disclosed that she departed from 'The View' due to the growing difficulty of representing Republican viewpoints on the show during the Donald Trump administration.
She shared that the experience had taken a toll on her self-esteem, saying, "It was as if I had become an avatar for everything they hated about the president". This revelation was part of her memoir 'Bad Republican'.
