MARYLAND, UNITED STATES: A Maryland jury this week found a woman guilty of killing her boyfriend, dismembering his body and strewing the body parts in various places.

James Volodimir Nalborczyk, 50, died, and following an eight-day trial, Michelina Desiree Goodwin, 46, of Great Mills, was found guilty on three counts of second-degree murder, using a firearm while committing a felony, and disposing of a body without authorization.

Goodwin convicted in murder of James Nalborczyk

The prosecution announced the decision on Thursday, March 7.

The St Mary's County State's Attorney's office stated that Nalborczyk's family reported him missing on December 21, 2022, stating that they last saw him on December 7.

A few weeks later, the case evolved into a homicide investigation, and Goodwin was named as a suspect. When questioned by investigators in January 2023, she stated that she and Nalborczyk got into a fight at her house and that she accidentally shot and killed him.

She then admitted to cutting his body into various parts and concealing those body parts in remote places of Charles and St Mary's counties, the police said.

"This horrifying crime shocked the community and caused unimaginable pain to the victim’s family," said State’s Attorney Jaymi Sterling in a statement, as reported by Fox News Digital.

Sterling went on to say, "Over eight days, the victim’s family and the jury heard the graphic circumstances surrounding the victim’s final moments and gruesome post-mortem mutilation. The Defendant’s gutless decisions deprived the family of a proper burial."

Goodwin could spend 61 years behind bars. A sentencing hearing is scheduled, and she is being held without bail.

Sheldon Johnson arrested after dismembered body found at home

In another case, Sheldon Johnson, a former prisoner and at-risk youth counselor at the Queens public defender's office, has been charged with murder, manslaughter, and unlawful possession of a weapon in connection with the death of Collin Small, 44.

Johnson was arrested after police responded to gunshots at Small's Bronx apartment on March 5. Police initially found nothing suspicious but later returned after Johnson informed the neighbors that Small was missing.

Security cameras captured a man changing clothes multiple times, and Small's head, legs, and arms were found in the freezer and his torso and feet inside the storage room.

Authorities have not provided a reason for the murder or explained how Johnson and Small knew each other. Johnson gained popularity for his remarks regarding his previous role as a Bloods gang leader.
